God rules. In the realm of understanding we all reach a point where we are aware of what we can handle. We have enough experience with something which creates the confidence of being able to handle the situation or experience if it arrives again. Many times they do. The characters involved are different and the scenery has changed but we recognize a certain familiarity. This is helpful as we do not have to reinvent the wheel each time we have an experience. What we sense as the knowing is actually the familiarity of thoughts and feels we are experiencing. In practical terms we have never been in the moment we are currently in until that moment. But we bring ourselves to the moment and so we have familiar thoughts and feelings. This generates the perception of whether or not we can handle the moment. The down side of this is we are not actually in the moment we are in because we are utilizing thoughts and feelings from the past to navigate through what is happening. God invites us to handle the moment by being fully present to it. That may mean letting go of our thoughts or feelings about what we perceive is happening. It is about being in the moment like a child who has never experienced the moment and is open to what might occur. This is not easy task as our ego is wedded to what it knows it can or cannot handle. God is ready to show us the limitless ways to handle the given moment if we are open to letting go of what we are handling.
My prayer for us is the willingness to let go of what we think or feel we can handle in this moment so God can surprise us with our limitless capacity existing in the now.
If God think that we can handle things that we don’t think we can, what might you be willing to look at in this moment from God’s perspective? Share in the comments.
