It may sound too simple but God calls upon us to be useful in the world. We are the beacons of light and messengers of love. We create this experience by who we are being. What we do, say, hear, taste , touch, speak, smell, share are all opportunities to make God’s presence in the world known. A Course in Miracles talks about this concept and in the words of St. Teresa of Avila: Christ has no body now on earth but yours; no hands but yours; no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ must look out on the world. Yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which He is to bless His people. What greater opportunity to be of use in the world then to be the world’s experience of God? It is humbling and exciting at the same time. It does not require us to be a master of anything except the truest form of ourselves. We show up in our lives and allow our stories to be used as demonstrations of the power of love. We are made in the image and likeness of God and the world needs the version of God in you to show compassion through your experience. Through you we can learn the multitude of expressions of love in compassion and forgiveness.
My prayer for us is the courage to allow ourselves to be useful for the great purpose of making love manifest in the world today.
