Be Unknown Trajectory!

on August 13, 2020
The funny thing about the times we are living in is the increased conversation about uncertainty.  Okay, so maybe funny is the wrong descriptor but given that most of the time things are in fact uncertain it is like we are simply waking up to the reality.  We often live under the illusion that all will turn out the way we want it to.  Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t.  Sometimes we can do all the planning and preparation.  We can set up the trajectory in such a way that it will certainly have a particular result and then it doesn’t.  We scramble to figure out if we set up the trajectory wrong or if we left out variables or if it was just dumb luck.  We leave out the part about how life has this flow to it and while it often runs along a given trajectory sometimes it diverges.  Because we get alarmed at the divergence, we think there is a problem.  Perhaps what we label as a failed trajectory is simply life surprising us.  We determine that if it is a surprise we think we do not want then we failed.  As human beings focused on survival we forget to look at the trajectory over time.  We focus on declining stocks yet when we look at the trajectory of the market over time we see it keeps going up.  God invites us to take the breaths initiated by our hearts to open up the trajectory we are focusing on with our minds and see other avenues that might be possible.  When we take a step back from the trajectory we are planning for and open up to what else is possible we see what God sees.

Are we willing to courageously open up to the trajectory presented by our hearts when our minds only see a failed trajectory today?
