Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

About

FlirtyMe

Hi and welcome to dailydatewithgod.com.  This is my blog site to introduce to the world my many understandings of God.  Each day I have set aside time in the morning which I have come to affectionately refer to as my date with God.  More formally it would be known as a time of prayer and meditation often involving a letter to God, reading of some scriptural books and quiet time to listen.  In embarking on this blog I have woken up each morning with great anticipation of what thought or concept God might want me to share with you.  I do not claim to be an authority on God (that is sort of oxymoron in my book), I am one humble woman who fervently searches to connect with her Creator and is open to the many ways that connecting might occur.    My path of prayer and religious practice began with what was passed on from my family of origin and many spiritual experiences along the way.  My commitment to a path of daily prayer and meditation came out of necessity.  As a recovering addict, desperate for a way out, I was told that I had to pray and meditate every day by one of my first mentors. Slowly, bit by bit and day by day I began to open up all of my world to God.  I realized that I could no longer exclude God from any area of my life.  To this day, I am aware that any area in which I experience suffering is usually because I have not fully opened up to what God would have me be in that area.  As an obesity survivor and an incest survivor my experience was of a lot of (mostly buried) anger, rage, pain, and all around stinking thinking that were my ways of handling the circumstances that presented themselves in my life.  It kept me from wanting to be present in the life that I was given and fully appreciate the goodness that was all around me even in the midst of the dark spaces.  When I could no longer resist the guiding light, I started the path home to LOVE. As I walk closer and closer to God and am open to how, who, what, where, when God is, the broader and fuller my understanding of LOVE, PEACE, GRACE and JOY is.  We all have our own paths and while I would not have picked mine, per say, I could not be more grateful for it.  I did not know the grace of forgiveness before this path.  I did not know the power of prayer before this path.  I did not know the laughter and the playfulness of life before this path.  I know that life happens for me, not to me and on my good days I remember that.  When I forget, I have my time with the Great Rememberer to bring me back.  My understanding of God comes from many places–some traditional and some not so traditional and you will see that as you trudge this road with me.  I don’t always know what God is, I just know in my heart and spirit that God is.  I hope you will join me on this road and perhaps share some of your understandings of God, take up any challenges that are offered and if nothing else, maybe something you read will make you smile or cause you to be kinder to yourself. 🙂

Colleen, I know you from Poetry, hello! Thank you for sharing your passion for God. You’re making me smile 🙂 I resonate with what you say, “When I forget, I have my time with the Great Rememberer to bring me back.” I don’t know about you, but I forget because my system and heart are shutting down. What brings me back is the call from Love to love. The Great Rememberer is Love calling me to love. It’s a miracle when I’m free again feel loved and love. Your site is so beautiful that I feel moved to bless it, bea

Hello Bea! So glad you stopped in to take a look at my work and that it resonates with you. Thank you for blessing it (that makes me smile :). I forget when I am letting my mind run about without checking in with my heart. And yes, there is no more freedom than that which brings us back into the love from which we were created. Peace, Colleen
