Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

Be With Usefulness!

When things have a purpose they make sense.  When we human beings have a purpose we have a flow and a sense of peace.  I know when I was in college working towards my bachelor’s degree I thought I had to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and I was at a loss.  There was no straight subject line that would lead me directly to what I wanted to do, in the times that I thought I knew what that was.  So I studied subjects that interested me and in the end I realized it was less about which degree I received and more about the process of working toward and accomplishing a goal.  I knew how to be useful in that arena.  I had to set some disciplines in place so that I completed my work, signed up for the classes I needed.  I learned to ask questions and share ideas.  I got to know people I would not normally have had the opportunity to meet.  I was of service to others by finding uses for my talents.  Those 4 1/2 years of my life stand out as a time where I learned a lot about the world, about myself, and about how I approach life.  It was a time of tremendous growth and uncertainty.  Part of that time I was brought face to face with some of my own demons and had not the least bit of an idea of what to do.  But the times in which I thrived were those in which I saw some usefulness or way that I could contribute–to others and to myself. My prayer for us today is that we find a small way to be useful and see what happens to our mind’s focus and perspective during that time.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be With Observing!

We have this tremendous gift of a mind that processes information.  Our brain has certain processes that require no thought or effort on our part like the part that tells the cell to travel through our blood stream or take a breath in and out.  This processing of information that requires thought therefore gives us many options.  Much of what we have done as a result of evolution is taken to creating the same automation for those that could require conscious thought.  Our brain so wants to help us out that it figures if it works for breath and messages through the spinal column then why not use what is already stored in the mind to make every other decision?  This means that we often are making decisions about things not based on what is actually happening but on a programming set in place from some experience from the past. This is where the gift of being present in the moment allows for creation.  If we stop and paused and observe what is actually happening before all the chatter and categorization of our mind occurs we can make a conscious choice of how to act in a specific situation.  God is calling us to be an observer of our life and our mind.  We need not judge it, but start by being present to it.  My prayer for us today is that we have the willingness to take the pause that comes with a breath and instead of reacting to a situation simply observe it and see what information we can gather.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be With Energy!

Everything is energy.  Energy carries vibration.  The greater the energy, the greater the vibration.  If we stop long enough to notice you can see that the whole planet is existing at a specific vibration.  My lack of astronomical knowledge is probably fairly evident here but as far as I understand it, the spinning of the planet around the sun creates a specific vibration.  The rays of the sun on our planet have a vibration.  Our breath has a vibration.  Everything that exists has this energy either in motion or stagnant.  Einstein said that energy is neither created nor destroyed, it simply changes from one form to another.  The greatest power then becomes in the use of our energy. Our thoughts and feeling carry energy.  When we focus on particular thoughts, the energy becomes greater.  That energy goes into motion and creates what we know as emotions (or as I heard it put once, emotions=energy in motion).  The experience of being run by our emotions is because of the power of energy in motion.  This is also why stuffing emotions down doesn’t work so well.  The energy does not go away it just gets pocketed somewhere.  Out of consciousness does not mean out of mind.  If God gifted us with all this energy in all of these different forms, don’t you think God would want us to use this energy in a way that brings about greater love (the essence of who we are)?  It is easy to latch on to the collective energy focus, it requires little decision on my part.  I am interested in what God’s focus of energy is for me for the day.  So I wake up and spend some date time with God to start my energetic day in alignment with THE power of love.  My prayer for us today is that we begin to notice where we focus our energy and be curious about how that shapes our day.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be With Understanding!

Within this very moment at which you are reading these words there is an understanding taking place.  The understanding is your mind’s translation of these characters as words and sentences which hold specific meaning so that you can logically understand in your mind.  The way your breath is moving in and out of your body and causing your organs to keep pumping and going is an understanding between the brain and the body.  The affection that you extend to those closest to you is an understanding of the meaning of your relationship.  But what about the things that we do not understand?  What about the times when people closes to us act in ways that have a different meaning for us than for them?  What about the times when we thought we knew to be true turns out not to be?  What about the events that cause us to question our understanding of who we are in the world?  Being with understanding is the patience and the trust of something beyond our understanding even when it doesn’t make sense.  God is beyond our understanding.  We get snippets and moments of enlightenment but God is constantly shifting and growing as much as we are.  God is within our hearts and our spirits in such a way that awakens us to a new reality.  When in that place of stillness with God that the ego world resists, is the moment of greatest understanding that we crave from a world that does not know how to give us what we need most.  My prayer for us today is that when we are in the spaces of understanding or misunderstanding we experience the comfort of God that comes from within and speaks to our spirits that all we need to understand in this moment is that God is. Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be With Patience!

Patience is a virtue . . . an expression I heard my whole life and never understood.  To me it meant that being patient was something saintly and if I were really being good, then I would embrace this way of being.  Patience is a reality.  It is having the fortitude to be in the in between times when it seems like nothing is happening and not lose faith.  Patience is surrender.  It is being willing to trust that Someone else is in charge and if things are not going according to our time line.  Patience is freedom.  It is the courage to not be bound by our own thinking and expectations of life.  Patience is joy.  It is the knowledge that we are more than just our physical experience and who we are surpasses any circumstance.  So if you were to ask me if I was interested in being in reality, surrendered, free and joyful I would say yes.  So God, this day I ask for patience for myself and all those who are lacking this quality of spirit.  Make it a great one! Peace~Colleen

Be With Confidence!

One thing you can be sure of, God has full confidence in you.  If this were not so, you would not exist.  All the confidence you need was placed within you before you were even born.  As we grow through life we are given opportunities to realign ourselves with that authentic power within us. There is nothing more striking than someone who embodies their own power.  I mean when someone walks into a room with the confidence and carrying it like it is something within them that I don’t have to flaunt those around them are impacted positively.  One who is confident has a sense of self and does not spend time worrying about what other people think.  It is not perfect, it is about a humble acknowledgment that his or her power comes from who he or she is at their core.  When I feel most confident it is because I feel connected to God and to myself.  I don’t question my essence and I am not depending upon the opinions or ideas of others to validate who I am.  This is what God wants for us.  To be assured of God’s confidence in us.  It is not something that needs to be won or earned, it just is and always has been.  My prayer for us today is that when we find ourselves wanting to shrink, we have the courage to pause and ask God, “Who do you see me as being in this moment? Grant me the courage to believe as you do.”  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be With Authenticity!

As I a kid I remember that my parents kept these picture plaque on the bathroom wall. It was cartoon character of a woman standing naked with curlers falling out of her hair and lines under her eyes with writing above her that said, “Love is  . . .  being able to say I love you, first thing in the morning.” The implication that real love was if you could say and have love even when things aren’t all prettied up and perfect.  It stuck out to me even as a child because there is a truth in love not having to do with circumstances.  Love is love.  It is not dependent upon the perfect picture, the right circumstance, the ideal situation. Love is who we are. Love is the essence from which we were created and it is most fully present when we are truly ourselves.  It is our authentic selves to be loving.  All the things, agreements, decisions, stories, that we place on top of it do not change its presence.  We cannot undo what God has created.  I often ask God, show me how to be love in this situation, with this person, towards myself.  Essentially I am asking God to help me remember who I truly am.  My prayer for us today is that we notice that when we are open to Being Love that we are free to be ourselves.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be With Amazement!

In the moments that it took you to load this webpage and start reading this blog someone has fallen in love, a mom told her little girl that she loves her, a father said goodbye to his dying son, a national leader decided to continue with his commitment to peace, you decided to take another breath.  When we take a moment to reflect we see the magnificence that is happening even when it seems like nothing is happening.  Our ego likes that story–we are stuck, there is nothing happening, we need to find something to do.  Maybe we just need to be present to the shift of the sun, the caress of the sun, the blooming of a flower, the touch of a loved one, the sound of laughter of a child, and all the other little seemingly unimportant things that remind us we are the gift of life.  It is hard when we are in the day-to-day grind and focused on making things happen to stop and be amazed at what is and who we are being, but it is that focus that feeds our spirits.  It is the recognition of the amazing things that remind our hearts that it is a wise choice to take that next breath.  My prayer for us today is that when we find ourselves frustrated and not seeing the point of it all, to in the inhale ask God to remind us how that inhale is the most amazing thing to happen at that moment.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be With Discomfort!

When we see a rose bloom open and widen to its fullest extension of an open andpetaled rose, do we ever wonder if that process was painful for the rose?  Maybe it was comfortable being closed up in the bud.  Maybe the process of being opened and made vulnerable to the elements was not something that the rose was looking forward to.  But then we wouldn’t smell its pungent beauty, see the gentleness of its petals, be enchanted by its many layers of softness.  Perhaps it is the same with us.  We might like to be closed up and tightly kept to ourselves in a protective cocoon where we are less vulnerable to the elements.  But then the world would be deprived of the beauty of our openness, our enchanting fragrance of love, and others could not be fed by our gifts.  As kids we might begrudge the physical growing pains but when we see ourselves physically turning into the adults with freedom and autonomy that we so desperately want to be, we accept it.  Why is it then when it comes to spiritual and emotional growth pain we want to avoid it at all costs?  Won’t it bring the same if not more freedom?  I have learned that the emotional and spiritual growth that ultimately causes me to open up in love and share myself with others is uncomfortable because I think it is not supposed to be happening the way that it is.  It is only by leaning in and accepting that it will be temporary times of discomfort, do I experience the profound intimate relationship of my true self.  My prayer for us today is that we be willing to believe that we have within us the same beauty of the open roses and allow God to help us with one of our petals today.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be With Reframing!

The whole world is at our disposal.  It seems as though there is little that human beings cannot do if they set their mind to it.  As a human race we have accomplished a lot of what originally seemed impossible.  Lunar flight and even airplane flight is one thing that comes to mind.  The opportunity to create is at our fingertips with each breath.  Things begin as an idea in our minds.  It is also our minds that will block us from the ideas that live inside of our spirits.  If, we let ourselves be stopped by only what we think is possible.  So much of our mental energy however is spent not in the present moment.  We function a lot on automatic pilot and reacting to circumstances based on a past experience.  It takes mental energy and a  conscious decision to be present in the moment.   God calls us to be right here, right now.  If we are open to looking at our current circumstances for what they actually are it may call us to reframe the way we have always “understood” things to be.  God gives us the power to reframe and to look at what was learned from those past experiences if we are open to it.  I have found that when I am willing and open, God extends his hand.  God shows me how what I thought were “bad” experiences or ways that I thought others were being were my opportunities for growth and expansion of heart into love.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to a reframing of one idea.  Make it a great one! Peace~Colleen
