Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

Be From Unfolding!

Letting go what we see with our eyes and opening ourselves up to what can be seen with our hearts is our gift from God.  We cannot imagine in our minds that what we see with our eyes is only part of the picture or not even the whole truth of what is happening.  It takes courage to step away from our dependence upon it and allow for the unfolding of love which invites us to see from our hearts.  There is a lack of categories and rationalizations in our hearts.  There is greater acceptance and peace in our hearts but we tend to rely on upon that with which we are familiar.  Yet we all know the feeling and sense of knowing something we cannot see with our eyes.  Why is it that some situations or people bring a sense of uneasiness yet there is nothing visibly wrong?  How is it that seemingly distressful situations open our hearts to extending love in ways we did not think were possible?  When we open ourselves to the unfolding reality of our hearts God is able to be fully present in us and through us. Our living becomes a gift to ourselves and to the world in unexpected and unseen ways.
My prayer for us is the courage to let go of our reliance solely upon the eyes of our mind and open ourselves to the unfolding nature of love coming from the eyes of our hearts today.

Be From Epitome!

With each breath we are given the opportunity to be an example of our core design.  God graces us with the chance to live and be fruitful but it is up to us how we want to express that life and fruitfulness.  We can be the epitome of light and love or we can be the embodiment of darkness and fear.  A lifetime full of breaths means we will get the chance to do it all.  Living in a dual dimension we cannot have one without the other.  Over time if we are paying attention we can notice which epitome serves our greatest good and those of others.  It is not black and white and perfection is something to work towards but while we are present in a human body with a human ego, it will evade us. Instead we get to engage the dance and make room for all facets of ourselves.  The acceptance that one does not erase the other or overcome it.  No matter how dark or fearful things become, God’s design of light and love in us will never fade completely.  We will always be capable of choosing to be the epitome of God’s great design.  Sometimes it may feel like we do not have a choice or we are too tired to choose.  Other times it may seem as though there are multiple forces fighting against us.  Each of those times with that same breath we can reconnect to our hearts and feel the strength of God deep within us.  God please help me remember I am not alone in this.  God, let me not lose sight of your design in me and those around me.  God, I can’t see the light anymore, open the eyes of my heart. Those are my simple prayers when I cannot muster up the energy to epitomize the light of love I know is still alive in me.

My prayer for us is the courage to notice how what we choose to epitomize serves us and others today.

Be From Salvaging!

We are restored by our relationship with God.  Engaging with her allows for a growth in our relationship with ourselves.  Through his eyes we are able to see the wholeness of ourselves.  If we stay within the confines of our own minds, there is part of ourselves that we would lose touch with because we do not deem them worthy.  We would not make the effort to salvage them because we have judged them wrong, bad, shameful, or a mistake.  God sees it differently.  God salvages all of who we are because it is part of the whole package.  God recognizes are inability to undo what she created in us.  In relating to God we humbly recognize our inability to erase the foot print of God in all parts of us as well.  Our acceptance of the salvaged elements of ourselves gives us the opportunity to see love in action.  Our hearts are moved to open further and wider to an understanding of love that goes beyond our minds.  Salvaging the darker side of our nature does not make sense. The heart of love is beyond sense.
My prayer for us is the courage to ask God to show us how we can salvage the darker parts of ourselves as God already has today.

Be From Beholding!

God sees our face and beholds it like a sculptor who knows every line and curve of his creation.  God’s gentle regard for our beauty is one I have a hard time seeing in myself especially when it comes to my body.  I am certain God sees something I don’t see.  My relationship with my body has long been a troubled one.  As a child of incest whose bodily reactions did not match the fear, terror, and disgust I was feeling at the same time.  I concluded therefore that my body must be wrong.  It was wrong to feel pleasure and pain at the same time.  It simply did not make sense.  Clearly my father could not explain the madness so I drew my own conclusions.  My body became my enemy and I set upon a course of self-destruction and self-abuse for many years.  Being in recovery for food addiction and letting go of my extra weight became my passage back to right relationship with my body.  Even if one has not suffered the same things I have, we live in a culture that often seems at war with our bodies.  We are given mixed messages about taking care of our bodies but only being deserving if we look a certain way. God beholds our body and our minds as the light of love she created and nothing less.  The simple prayer of God, how do you see . . .  me, my body, my mind, my situation is a simple way to step back into a sense of beholding. Each day on our date, I show up body, mind, and soul wherever I am in my thinking and being and allow God to open me up to the beholding God has of me.
My prayer for us is the courage to ask God to bring to our minds the beholding she has of us in body, mind, and spirit today.

Be From Training!

When we choose a spiritual path to reunite us with our hearts we notice a lot of fits and starts.  It is not a straight course of travel.  There are many setbacks, winding roads, or unseen obstacles.  All are as designed to train us from the thinking of the world to the thinking of Spirit.  We simply do not see things as God sees things.  Life’s path becomes a training in course correction.  We are given the opportunity with each bump and twist to choose the path of Spirit yet again.  God does not judge us for the times we slow down or quit altogether because she knows deep within us there is movement even when we cannot see it. Spirit gives us the new breath so many times each day to propel us forward.  Even when it seems like we are not making progress the training is happening.  The moment we get back on the horse by taking that deep breath and asking, “Please!  Help me see this differently,” we proceed with the training to the awareness of our hearts. We can try to measure our progress or determine if the training is sufficient by the world’s standards but it won’t work.  It is like comparing apples to tires.  One fuels us from within and the other helps the wheels move.  If we do not consume the apple for fuel, the tires will not move because there is nothing to move.  Training our thinking to be in alignment with our hearts can only be seen as God sees it.

My prayer for us is the courage to trust in the training of our hearts provided by the everyday circumstances of our thinking as God trusts it today.

Be From Repair!

God provides multiple opportunities for us to remember our true nature.  She restores and repairs the seeming broken connection.  He invites us into a consciousness  that our connection was never broken.  God never lets go.  God stays in the knowing of the connection between us at all times.  In the same way God never sees us as less than anything whole and complete, we are invited to initiate the repair process by humbly asking God to repair our hearts. God knows no repair need be done as it has never changed, nothing we could ever do in this world can change the nature of God within us.  However, our willingness to acknowledge that our conduct is not conveying the message and we need assistance to remember the truth of who we are is important.  The repair is in our thinking about ourselves, God, and others.  The reality which is God’s, never alters, needs repair, or is changed by human action or thinking.
My prayer for us is the courage to be willing to request the repair of our understanding of our hearts today.

Be From Remaining!

We can rely wholly on the premise that God remains fully and completely within us no matter the circumstances in our lives.  We always remain as we were created.  What happens during the time and space of our human existence cannot undo our divine inheritance.  It remains unchanged. It is a matter of recognizing and remembering the design with which God created us. Yes, change is constant.  God is also constant.  The love remaining in our hearts is there when all else seems to have abandoned us.  As an incest survivor there is a lot of language I hear about being tainted and ripped of my innocence. There was  a time when I felt that way even in my core.  I was afraid to look deep within myself for fear of my darkness being true and too much to handle.  On our daily dates, God invites me into a space within myself full of light and innocence. God shows me no matter what my father or anyone else did, it cannot alter the light of love God placed within me. It is as though God created an area of remains in me, not of the dead but of an aliveness.  The light may be flickering only a little but it is still there.  By accepting God’s invitation and trust in God’s commitment to my designed wholeness I willingly creep into the dark and scary places.  I walk through the anger, sadness, frustration, terror, and despair. The hardest part is letting go of them for fear nothing will be there when I am done.  God has shown me that within my heart space will remain God’s vision of who I am.  I can rely on it when nothing else seems possible.
My prayer for us is the willingness to take the path inward even into the seeming darkness of ourselves to find the love that remains always and forever because of who designed it.

Be From Asking!

The point of our recognition of our connection to God is to endure with peace.  If we know where it is we come from, what our design is and why we are here we can focus our energy towards living the truth of ourselves.  We can begin by asking God where we are to be, what we are to say and to whom.  If we do not ask, we will not get an answer.  One of my favorites is “Holy Spirit, show me what to do, tell me what to say and use me as you will.”  It is a way of turning over my being to the greater good of all.  I desire in my heart to be led by a vision greater than my own and I do not always have a sense of what that is, so I ask.  I am not pure by any means so invariably I will find myself at moments in my day resisting what I feel the Spirit is calling me to.  The longer God and I have been dating, the easier it has become to trust the answers I receive from Spirit.  Often, what appears to not be what I want, is simply my inability to see all the possibilities with my heart.  Asking to remember the vision of my heart is a quiet and ever emanating longing residing with me with each breath.  Our daily dates provide me a chance to be in the presence of that remembrance and ask until my heart’s content.
My prayer for us is the willingness and courage to ask for the longings of our hearts, even when we have no faith that we will receive an answer today.

Be From Proximity!

We are much closer to God that we think we are.  Often God is described as something “out there”.  We are taught to look upward to see the heavens. Places of worship often have high ceilings and ornate depictions of the world beyond.  God is something greater than I am and thankfully I am reminded of this often.  Yet the idea of God as outside of us only tells part of the story.  God desires to be in as close proximity as possible.  God is the soft whisper of love in our ear.  God is the gentle nudging of our hearts when it is alive.  God is the exhale that gets released when we stop holding our breath in fear. God shows up in our lives as people, circumstances, experiences, ideas, and nature.  God also is the steady state of our hearts, beating within us even when we don’t notice it.  God invites us into closer proximity by extending a hand and drawing it to our hearts. God wants us to be as curious about our inner nature as we are about the cosmos.  God desires for us to know the love residing in our design in an unexplained way.  The invitation to the proximity of love is in letting go of the walls we have placed around our hearts out of fear.  God knows we come to see God more clearly in our lives by being willing to see ourselves more clearly.
My prayer for us is the courage to embark on an inward journey and enjoy the fruits of proximity of love within us where God placed it to begin with today and every day.

Be From Following!

There are a plethora of choices when it comes to leaders and ways of life.  You can find various styles and personalities in every realm of business  academics, spirituality, and politics. We are going to follow something.  Choosing what to follow whether it is a path, a way of life, a person, a style, a philosophy, or a way of being is an important decision   God encourages us to follow the longings of our hearts where love resides. This asks of us to pause and check in with our own internal knowing before following anything outside of ourselves.  On our daily dates each day, I show up because I want to become better acquainted with the knowing in my heart which God designed.  I present myself as is in the moment with a curiosity and a slight sense of hopefulness that by engaging in this relationship I will know better what to follow outside of me when the decision presents itself.  There was a time when I had no connection to an internal compass and was easily swayed by what the people I gave power to in my life saw as important. As long as you approved I am okay.  I thought what was within me could not be trusted.  Slowly God has reintroduced me to the greatest presence of power and love residing in me and in all of us which can be accessed by simply taking a breath.  I often pause in my day, especially when agitated or doubtful, touch my hand to my heart, take a deep breath and reconnect.  It started earlier that day on my date and it is kind of way to make the date last longer.  I believe it gives me a sense of knowing I am following the path of the one who created me and knows me best.
My prayer for us is the willingness to check in with our internal knowing before choosing what we will be following outside ourselves today.
