Hafiz, the great Sufi Master has written beautiful God poems, many simple and sweet like this one: “No one in need of love can sit with my verse for an hour and then walk away without carrying golden tools, and feels that God just came near.” I had a spiritual advisor once who would remind me that when I took one step towards God, he would take ten on my behalf. Many of my experiences have been just that–whenever I show up for God, present myself to him, warts and all, He shows up that much more. Probably because God is all that is. I think that I need to have all my ducks in a row before I can show my face to him, but he is glad to see my face even without the ducks. 😉 The point is to draw near to him and to stay close to him. At the end of the day, all I need to know is did I draw close to him and did I do his work well? The question then is how do I draw near to God? The beauty of course, is that there are as many ways to draw near to God-stopping and taking a deep breath, looking at the sky, saying a formal prayer, saying a non-formal prayer, just saying “God, you there?”, smiling, being of service to someone else, singing, dancing, acknowledging myself, looking for the good in a situation, etc. There are so many possibilities I get excited just thinking about it! How do you draw near to God? My prayer for you today is that however you draw near to God, that you may be filled and touched by His presence. Make it a great one! Peace~Colleen
Great Reminder, Thanks Colleen;)
