Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

Be in Interest!

on May 15, 2014
We gravitate towards the things we are interested in.  Our interests capture our attention and invite us in to explore. When we are interested in something we are present to it.  We are not thinking about wherever else we want to be or need to be.  So what do we do with the areas of our lives we are not interested in?  Therein lies the challenge.  Is there an area of our lives, big or small that God is not interested in?  The more accurate question might be is than area of our lives that we do not want God to take an interest in?  Maybe we think we got this one handled.  Maybe we think that God is not interested because God has better things to do.  Maybe it is us who is not interested in being fully present to that part of our lives.  Perhaps we just prefer to approach it on automatic pilot–doing what we always do, being how we always are.  We can recognize those areas because they are the areas of our lives that we are irritated by when things don’t go as usual.  It is an indication when we are rubbed by a disturbance in a situation because it wakes us up to be present to what is going on.  Yesterday at work, I had such an occasion, I was doing a normal thing I do at work and it was not working. I became disturbed because it was not going as planned and I had to go back and do it again.  I had a room full of people waiting on me to figure out what was going on–no pressure or anything! So I simply took a deep breath, realized I needed God with me in that moment, and asked for their patience.  I realized that in that moment I could be frustration or I could be trusting that all was happening exactly as it should and I could model that.  Part of me wanted to curse the situation up and down (okay I did in my head briefly) but then realized it was not making it go any smoother.  With the breath I took I realized I needed God’s help to be interested in where I was in the present moment so I could let go of being disturbed by the wake up call.  Then somehow, just as it didn’t work, the computer started to work again as though nothing had been wrong.  It’s amazing what a restart can do in my life and in technology. My prayer for us today is that we be open to asking for help to be interested in the very moment we would prefer to be on automatic pilot so that we can learn something new.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Are you open to waking up when you might rather sleep through a moment you are not interested in?  Feel free to share in the comment section by clicking on the number next to the title.
