Each day is an opportunity to experience the world anew! Each moment of each breath is a chance to take in the “marrow of life” as Thoreau stated. God calls us to this full experience by greeting us with this Grand Overture of our day in a breath. The Conductor begins to move his hands and guides us in playing our part in the orchestra for the day. We are invited to participate in this beautiful symphony of life with one another. The difference between us and an orchestra is we don’t have the sheet music to follow. Or do we? Perhaps the music is written on our hearts. Have you ever noticed the players in the orchestra who close their eyes while they are playing? As a kid, I wondered how they could read the music with their eyes closed. Then I realized they were playing from their heart. They closed their eyes so they could tune in and be one with their instrument. We are called to do the same. God invites us as the conductor to go within our hearts and connect to our music, to listen in the quiet to the heart-strings that tug from our soul and yearn to be played out in our lives. We are the instruments of peace that St. Francis asked to be. We are the instruments of God’s message of love. My prayer for us today is that we be open to playing our part as only we can in the orchestra of life so that God can conduct the most beautiful overture ever heard to date. Make it a great one! Peace~Colleen
