Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

Be Of Amnesty!

on July 12, 2016
God is mercy.  One recurring element of my relationship with God is in reminder of the extent of God’s compassion.  It is not a surprise the compassion perspective of God but the depth and breadth of it.  It far surpasses anything that I think is possible.  It is where I have experienced the most grace.  It is where I am clear, in case I was not before, that God is greater than I.  I have found places and spaces in my heart where an attitude of mercy exists.   From it I find myself extending my heart in ways that I did not even know I could. It is God doing for me what I could not do for myself.  Especially in those moments when I am worn down and feeling beaten up by life, amnesty emerges from a seemingly empty place.  I can only conclude that it is because I have opened my heart just enough that God is able to move through it.  The benefit is not just for the other person but because it comes through my heart, I am open to experiencing it through all of me.  The grace of walking free from old childhood wounds, the lightness of a new perspective on a person I thought for certain I would still be angry with, and the laughter that emerges when I recognize that I am taking myself too seriously.  The freedom of amnesty in no longer carrying around elements of the past, even if they are well-worn defenses of character I was sure I could never let go of, is astounding. The key seems to be the willingness to let it go even if I have no idea how it is possible.
My prayer for us is the courage to believe that God is so present in our lives and through us can equip us with the amnesty to be in the present and free of even old ways of being.
If God meets us in the present, then how can God show you the power of love in amnesty by freeing you of the way of being that no longer serves you today?  Share in the comments.
