I learned a long time ago the gift of simplicity is where my heart is able to rest. There is such joy to be lived when doing what is in front of us to do in the moment. I supposed that is why the phrase, Keep It Simple Stupid is so catching. The clearness resulting from a simple sense of why I am here in this moment is refreshing. Our world seems to get more complicated by the moment. When I think of how I am at the gym on the elliptical machine with a phone machine on one side playing music and reading on my kindle through another device. The multiple number of things involved in gearing me up and helping me sustain my energy and attention during a workout is laughable. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy it which is why I do it daily, but it lacks the beauty of simple stroll through my neighborhood on a warm afternoon, listening to the birds sing and feeling the wind on my skin. To each thing there is time and purpose under heaven. God’s call to return to our breath creates the clearness we seek in our minds. It is the energy needed for our heart requiring the breath to be taken in which can teach our minds to stop running and just be. Our minds will not be the ones to teach our hearts because it will try to use language. The clearness of peace God longs for us to experience is beyond words. I am grateful to know the road to clearness is the simple path of placing my hand on my heart and breathing in and out.
My prayer for us is the opportunity to experience the clearness of peace in our lives by engaging our consciousness to our breath through our hearts today.
