Years ago there was a film in which a man in a romantic scene declared to the woman he loved that she completed him. It is iconic and dramatic and romantic and as I sat in my seat, I cringed. Uggghh. Seriously! So I am not a whole person? We are halves? I recognize it is a movie and I am often much too pragmatic but it strikes me as bad math if one is not complete as they are connecting with another versus two halves. So what happens during the time you are not in a relationship? Are we all just half people wandering aimlessly? God has made us complete and whole. Are we always present and in the game of life at 100%? Not likely, as life is not about perfection. But at our core we have everything we need to be whole because we are one with God. Our completeness is not a question in the mind of God, it is a given. How would we approach our lives differently if we didn’t think we were searching for our other half? God desires us to search our hearts to discover our oneness and accept our completeness in love.
My prayer for us is the courage to go within and find our complete template designed by God and bring it into our relationships today.
