Our world is built around the philosophy of looking for what is in it for us. How will participating in this event, doing this deed, studying this book, meeting this person, or wearing these clothes benefit me? What if we knew that all of it benefits us? What if there was no need for the question because God has the answer? In God’s eyes we are the benefit. We are not in need of anything. We show up in life for certain experiences so we can begin to know intimately who we are. Things and people benefit us to the same extent we benefit them. We are the benefactors and the benefited to the extent we choose to show up as the truth of who we are. Everything and everyone is a benefit because they are alive. We are the benefit and receive the benefit because we have been creatively designed and brought to the life by the Creator. We are the benefit of God. The moment we lose sight of this truth is when we find ourselves searching for what is in it for us. God calls us to search within our own hearts and reunite with the benefit of being the truth of who we are no matter the circumstances.
My prayer for us is the courage to open our hearts and minds to see the benefit of the truth of who we are in whatever we participate in today.
