I used to think of myself as very independent. Over time I realized while this is true it is not possible to be completely independent. No one gets through this life without relying on something that someone else had a hand in at one point. I can make my own dinner but I am relying on the farmers to have grown the lettuce, the truck to deliver it to the store, the store to price the food, the checker to pay, the HR person to process my paycheck, the bank to transfer the funds, and so on. It is often described as interdependence but what I see is an interconnection. We are all linked in some way and often are not aware of it because it is easy to dismiss. God encourages me to find the beauty in this interconnection because it is actually in our hearts that we are joined. We are affected by others in so many ways and we interact with our energies unseen all the time. We all know the feeling of walking into a room and feeling good or bad. This is an impact of the collective and connected energy of the people present. We are not immune, nor are we meant to be. It takes courage to embrace our interconnection and humbly accept all the parts of each other and ourselves. What we start to notice is when you are able to stand in your light, you are impacting my ability to do the same. Our interconnection can build us up or take us down, it is our choice.
My prayer for is the willingness to see the beauty and courage of the interconnection between ourselves and others today.
