There is an immovable force of love existing within us. It is the presence of God in our hearts. Sometimes we feel connected to it but often we simply forget it is there. Over time we don’t pause and attempt to connect so it gets buried under our efforts to stay safe. After a while the world is bound to deliver something we are sure we cannot recovery from. Why do we think we cannot recover? Because it has taken the very things we created to establish a sense of safety and broken them down. We take it to mean that we are broken and can never be put back together just like Humpty Dumpty. While we are children of God, we are not a child’s story. Our story, all of our stories, are the victorious kind. What looks like a break in ourselves or feels like a brokenness of our hearts is neither. It is a breaking of the layers on top of our heart. We realize our efforts to keep our hearts safe while valiant have amounted to nothing sustainable. What seems like devastation is the stride and power of the heart to get through to our minds. Sometimes it appears that the stride comes from outside of us because we find a connection outside of us to restore us. But we would not be able to make the connection and be restored if the stride of the heart was not in full effect. God will always fight for the victory of our hearts. It is where God wants to come alive again in our recognition of his presence within us. The stride ignites the light where she can remind us of the truth of love in our lives this day and every day. For some of us the breaking of our safety armor is small, for others it is big. It does not matter the size, it only matters the recognition of the stride.
My prayer for us is the courage to believe whatever kind of breaking of our hearts we might be experiencing we can shift our perspective to see it as the stride of our hearts to remind our minds of the presence of eternal love always present in us today.
