Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

Be From Love!

If we could allow ourselves a few minutes to sit in the reality of who we are and receive it as the only true thing in existence we would be in love.  God created us from love for love.  When we are in our true selves we emanate the most powerful force in the universe.  Love is one of those overused and misused terms.  We have lost sight of what it means because we rely on the world for our definitions.  I am not sure we can fully grasp the breadth and depth of love as God understands love.  I think we can glimpse it and sense it in small ways.  To fully embrace it would require us to step outside of our knowing and connect with something greater than ourselves.  This is what God invites us to do.  We have some semblance of the presence of love through our human experience. God’s invitation is to remember in the deepest place of ourselves something for which there are no words or explanations. A space where being just is.  A moment when we are not limited by space and time.  In the ever-expanding universe God dwells in the mystery.  Our mind tells us it must be figured out but our hearts and souls long to be held in this experience where our mind can go quiet and we can feel the embrace of love eternal.  It is how we started out and it is where we are our fullest expression of ourselves lives. I realize this all sounds very flighty and magical but I believe God’s message to us is one of hope.  Every signal and evidence of love in the world is a reminder of who we are in God’s eyes.  Despite our circumstances, our thinking, and our beliefs about ourselves and the world, God’s rendering of the reality of love will always be more powerful.
My prayer for us is the willingness to take a chance and believe even for a moment that we have been created from a love that surpasses our understanding and can see evidence of it all around us today.

Be From Cognizance!

God knows who we are and always recognizes us as our truth.  As our Creator, God does not get caught up in the stories and layers of falsehoods that we place on top of our true essence.  I suppose this is part of what makes God greater than us.  We can easily get lost in our stories and circumstances.  I do all the time.  I perceive whatever I am going through as my full reality.  Yes, it is something I am walking through and present to at the moment, but it does not define me.  God is there and cognizant of the love God created us from.  God invites us to become equally cognizant of our true reality.  We are not chameleons who must change depending on our environment to survive.  Our purpose is not to meld into the scenery. God created us as forces of love and light.  We are to shine the magnificence of God’s loving presence in whatever situation we are in to the best of our ability.  It is hard to fathom that we could really play a role as profound as being the presence of light and love in every situation.  It is because we have stopped remembering ourselves as who we truly are.  On any given day we default to the roles we have, the things we own, and the emotional experiences we are having as a result of the situations we are in.  If I am faced with a trigger of an old memory and find myself disturbed by someone else’s behavior, I can quickly fall into thinking that facing those things are who I am. God invites me through my breath to pause and remember who I am and encourages me to be that in the presence of whatever is there.  It is not easy, but it is simple.
My prayer for us is the willingness to take the breath and pause to allow the cognizance of who we truly are settle into us for a moment before proceeding today.

Be From Point!

We all want to know we have a part to play in this life.  We want to leave a mark.  I imagine that most of us want to do so in a positive way. Some have chosen to have a child to carry on a family name, creating a business that will outlive them, writing books or composing music,  teaching, and so many more possibilities are available to us.  There are endless ways we can make a mark by which we will be remembered.  What we do not realize is we are leaving a mark by who we are being in our every day life.  This mark is created by a series of points we make one moment at a time.  It may not seem to register and we may think we are invisible but our existence tells us God has a point he wants to make through us.  She has created us as points of love.  Sometimes we are aligned with that, other times we are off doing our own thing.  We can get caught up in focusing on how we will make a mark that we lose touch with God’s point.  It is not as though God would never have us make a lasting mark, but perhaps today that best way to do so is to make a point of being wherever we are.  We negate our presence if it does not have a result because we think we cannot show its worth.  To the person who is on the receiving end of your look in the eye, saying of their name, or simple acknowledgment of their presence, your point is very important.  We all know the reverse of feeling over looked and invisible.  We know what it is like to be discounted or invalidated.  What if today you could be the one to point out someone else’s existence as valid?  How many points is it worth to you?
My prayer for us is the willingness to check in with God on how we can make the most lasting mark through simple points of love today.

Be From Sensing!

Our hearts and bodies are finely tuned instruments which pick up on the subtle nature of energy.  We are often not conscious of these energy shifts but our bodies sense the changes.  Someone you dont’ get along with walks in the room and your heart closes off to protect you.  Then you are blocked from being able to see their heart and the strife between you continues.  Our sensing works in conjunction with our minds but our minds are often the last to know.  As someone who spent their life making their body the reason for their unhappiness and hating it for what I interpreted as sending me bad information, a large part of my recovery has been to mend that relationship.  I get to relearn what my body senses, what it is trying to communicate to my mind, and where that falls in line with my heart.  It sounds laborious but it is a mending of my sensing.  It is an opportunity to spend my energy in gratitude for the vehicle that houses my spirit with knowledge to share with my mind.  It is another beautiful element of the profound human experience of being present.
My prayer for us is the curiosity and desire to pay attention to what we are sensing in our body before it reaches the place of meaning in our minds today.

Be From Anger!

We are all gifted with a wide array of human emotions.  I didn’t know much about them growing up because I was quick to make them wrong, especially big ones.  When I was done making them wrong, I would numb out.  As a young child I felt things deeply and apparently was so demonstrative with my emotions that I was accused of being a melodramatic actress named Sara Bernhardt.  I learned that emotions were best kept under wraps.  Dealing with the madness of incest, I was very angry but did not have a place to express it.  This is not about blaming my experience growing up.  I recognize that we cannot teach what we do not know. Anger is one of many feelings we can have.  God must have seen a purpose to it or it would not be in our repertoire.  Society has all kinds of stories about what it means to feel anger or get angry like the saying ‘Nice girls don’t get angry”   I know from my experiences on our daily dates, God does not label or invalidate any particular feelings.  Just typing the title of this post made me uneasy. God makes room for any and all emotions.  This gives me hope that we can learn to be with them the way God is. which provided
My prayer for us is the willingness to be open to what God’s purposes are for all our feelings, even anger, today.

Be From Detachment!

We live in a world where we are measured by all the accomplishments, possessions, and idea that we see as part of our identity.  It is understandable that we would then resist the idea that we are more than those things.  Everyone around us wants to know who we are connected to, what we own, what kind of power we have.  It is as common of a conversation as how are you.  The funny thing is that often people do not listen to our answer on that one either.  So how do we detach ourselves from the external and align ourselves with the internal through which God views us.  The only way II know is to come back to a quiet place before I engage with others or things and spend some quality time with God.  The opportunity to sit with all my internal knowing and not knowing, feelings and numbness, clarity and chaos, takes practice.  It is not as though there is no value in what we attach ourselves to outside of ourselves but at the end of our lives, we don’t get to take any of it with us.  Our essential spirit moves on without all of that.  No titles, no possessions, no thoughts will be present as we breathe out our last breath.  I believe that the true essence of ourselves carries on somehow. I obviously do not know the specifics but the sense in my heart is that we experience a space where there is no separation between us and God.  I want to have a sense of that in the present moment and I experience a little taste of that on my daily dates with God.  It is not always easy to be still, but I know God is there and I choose today to spend some time attached to that.

My prayer for us is the curiosity to wonder what our lives would mean if they were detached from just one outside element by which we define ourselves today.

Be From Boundlessness!

The freedom that God brings by reminding us always that we are not bound by our mind or our body.  We are the spirit of love residing within those boundaries but fully connected and embraced by the Creator who does not bind us.  We have the privilege of living out a life within those boundaries and demonstrating the power of boundless love.  This is why some things do not make sense.  Within the physical universe where everything must have a concrete explanation, the forces not bound by those parameters seem crazy.  How do we manage to survive and thrive despite some of the most horrific experiences?  How can we find it within us to love even after we have been betrayed?  Deep down inside in a place that can never be altered by this universe lives a life force of boundless love.  The beautiful thing about God is that he does not require us to believe in her in order to exist.  The boundless nature of love will always be and always have the last word.  All our epic stories and triumphs of everyday remind us in some small way of this great truth which we cannot hide from.  We can choose to not believe it in, but our belief does not defy God’s reality.  Our witness or agreement of the presence of darkness, no matter how many involved cannot undo the love God created.  By choosing one moment at a time, one breath at a time to take a chance on the boundlessness of love, we grow evermore close in the reality of God.  In my own life there are days when all I see are the barriers to love in my own heart and those around me.  Yet with a gentle grasp of my hand and a reminder to breathe God is there as the presence of boundless love to shine the light of reality.
My prayer for us today is the willingness to step into the boundless nature of love God has created within us and breathe it in a just a little today.

Be From Cherishing!

There is something so sacred in how God views us and because we are not God it is hard to wrap our heads around.  I have heard parents talk about it when they speak of the love they have for their children.  I myself am not a parent yet so perhaps that is why it seems so foreign to me.  But I don’t imagine it is exclusive to parenthood as not all are meant to be parents.  The cherishing view of God is an intimate and untouched one.  It speaks of the idea of seeing one’s wholeness and innocence.  Children are easier to cherish because their innocence is still so much present in them.  But what happens as we get older.  Are we less cherishable?  I think we think we are.  We take stock of our worn and tattered lives, good and bad decisions, and figure we are lucky to get what kind of love comes our way.  God does not see anything less to cherish.  No matter what we have done or not done, God sees plenty worth cherishing.  It does not make sense to me as I let go of the notion of being cherished a long time ago.  I look at the chronology of my life and think its anything but something to cherish.  I have spent most of my time so far from a belief of something in me dear and precious.  Yet, in our time of daily dates I have begun to experience remembrances of it.  It comes sometimes like a flash piercing my heart and filling me with light.  It leaves a seeing behind my eyes beyond my own understanding.  At times when I found myself curled up in a ball tears flowing like a river, I sense a presence holding me dear so close it almost breathes on me.  I can only imagine this is God’s way of telling me whatever pain I am in, there is something to be cherished.
My prayer for us is the curiosity to notice moments of cherishing in ourselves or others and begin to grasp the enormity of God’s love for us today.

Be From Jointness!

In Christian scriptures, Jesus tells his disciples that when two or more are gathered he is with them.  We all know the power of coming together.  We all know the void we feel when we realize we are alone.  Being joined by God in our hearts enables us to live from the fullest capacity of ourselves.  There is more power in more than one.  We are all beautiful, unique, and powerful individuals but when we are joined together for a common purpose we can be and accomplish so much more. The basic elements of more hands and feet in the process, more minds thinking the same thing, and most importantly hearts with a common focus is powerful.  In those alone moments we are also given the opportunity to become more closely joined with God in whatever form that takes.  Recognizing God’s presence within us allows us to move forward with the power, grace, and peace that we would not have on our own. Some think of faith or belief in God as a crutch.  I think of it as being joined with a force greater than me always cognizant of the vitality of my heart.  Sometimes I cannot see myself or others in any kind of light.  But God is not hindered by human sight.  God sees the heart alone.  God sees creation in its whole and pure form.  Embracing our jointness with God gives us a running shot at not losing sight of all that is whole and fully alive.
My prayer for us is to reflect on the power of our jointness with God to enable us to be a force of love where we struggle to be able to do so on our own today.

Be From Breaking!

God claims us as his own.  She wants us to know always that we belong.  Our Creator has placed within us a mechanism by which we will find ourselves searching to connect when we get disconnected from our true selves.  It is no mistake that we are driven unconsciously to seek out the light of love.  We know intuitively when we have strayed from our design.  Our lives will often take a turn for the worse when we try to live without it. We strive to seek it out by convincing ourselves that it must be from outside of us because it cannot simply be coming from within, we can’t see that.  If after seeking for a while and not able to reconnect to our source, we can convince ourselves it was not meant to be.  We shut down our heart and the hardening begins.  We may reach a breaking point which cracks open the hardened shell around our hearts.  Then there is space to let the light shine through.  It feels as though the light is coming from outside of ourselves but it is the presence of the light of love that is buried deep within us.  God never let it go out,we just thought it had.  God encourages us to fan the flame and make the light brighter which will continue to melt the hardening around our hearts and make our light more visible to others.
My prayer for us is the willingness to allow a break in our armor and reconnect with the light within us today.
