Be From Quietness!

There is a space between silence and noise.  It creates a sense of grounding in the experience of here and now. It welcomes in the knowing that comes from noticing what is present. The quietness invites us to pause before stepping in the next whatever and truly be with what is.  Observation without judgment, quietness offers a rest from the chattering commentary come at us from all sides.  It is the place where we can become attuned to the chatter inside our own minds.  Before getting to a place of silence, quietness plays with a heightened sense of awareness standing in an experience of gentleness and flow.  God invites us into times and spaces of quietness so we can anchor our awareness of who and where we are as distinguished from the people and things outside of us.  In quietness God can gently and playfully tap on our hearts and remind us of the love we are in God’s eyes.
My prayer for us is the curiosity to embrace the moments of quietness offered as a portal to witnessing God’s gentle love of us today.

Be From Seeing!

When our hearts are open we see with the clarity with which we were meant to see.  It is hard to wrap our heads around the idea that what we see with our physical eyes is not all there is.  To realize that what we see with our physical eyes is not the truth of what is present is even harder.  The more dates I go on with God, the more attuned I become in how God sees things very differently that I do.  God created a vast and unlimited experience of love.  I get glimpses of it here and there but get stopped by not being able to rationalize it.  Then there are those moments when I surrender out of a desire to see and find myself living in a light I didn’t even know was possible.  We live in a physical universe on which our minds come up against limits.  In order to step into a limitless experience of living, we have to take a leap from our head to our heart.  God can be our guide on the path if we let him.  She is ready with each breath to guide our hands to our heart and show us how to take in the fullness of live and love when we decide we are open to seeing it.
My prayer for us is the courage to reach for God when we decide we are interested in seeing with our hearts today.

Be From Replacement!

The perspective of our world offered by God is meant as an alternative to the one we often find ourselves drenched. God offers it to replace the one we have experienced as wounding our hearts. A miracle can be as simple as a change in our thinking. The spiritual process of letting go is so we can make room for an enlightened perspective. This replaced perspective allows us to see the miracles in our lives which are always present. The replacement of our old and darkened thinking comes as an invitation. God will not impose her will on us. God will not make us take on his perspective. It is enlightened thinking because it allows us to see the light of love without being blocked. It is enlightened because it just comes if we allow it. The very nature of God’s way of being is to allow for the flourishing of joy and love. I am a testament to how long one can hold on to old and darkened thinking because it is familiar. The moment I decided I had enough of my own thinking and allowed God to replace mine with hers, life got easier.    I recognize that must have needed to get to a place of great pain before I was willing to consider the replacement.  I am at peace with that because I see it from God’s perspective, not just mine.  The situations in our lives that break us down and open provide a unique opportunity to allow the enlightened view to enter in without effort. But we do not have to get to a place of pain if we want to invite it in before then. When we welcome the replacement we will find that we are lighter, our hearts are stronger, and within us is a sacred space that thrives in the light.

 

My prayer for us is the courage to consider God’s thinking as a replacement of our own and be with the light of love today.

Be From Equality!

God does not look at his creation and see levels or degrees of worthiness.  All of her creations are equal in their capacity to be the presence of love for which they were created. When we judge each other as less than we lose sight of the purpose of our being what we were created to be.  I cannot assume that I know how you were designed as a magnification of the power of God.  We are all  in different places in our lives and presented with different circumstances.  It may not make sense to me how you are living your life but I am not your God. It is not for me to presume how you are doing so is any less important than how I am attempting to do the same in my life.  We cannot be aware of the infinite possibilities God can create from each of us showing up as ourselves in the world.  We can encourage each other as equal partners in the design of love. Living from a s[ace of equality increases the power and influence of love in the world one day at a time.
My prayer for us is the courage to presume that other people have an equal role to play in the magnification of love in the world today.

Be From Treasure!

As a kid I had a lot of fear and anxiety about the dentist and disliked having to go for my regular appointment and cavity filings but I was a compliant child.  One part of the visit did intrigue me.  At the end of the visit we got to get something from the treasure chest.  There was a big brown old-looking box kept with the receptionist that creaked when you opened it.  Inside were little trinkets and toys to choose from. The most exciting part of the experience was opening the chest wondering what you might find and claim as your own.  God invites us to the same experience with our hearts. God knows the truth of who we are lies in a treasure deep within us not tainted by circumstances or our thinking.  Sometimes on our daily date, I can sense the excitement with which God greets me as I sit down for our time together.  I think God is full of anticipation at the possibility of discovery when we begin to explore the buried treasure deep within us. God created us so we might experience the wonder of life.  God keeps protected in us this space full of treasures ready for our discovery when we have the courage to explore our hearts.
My prayer for us is the willingness to dive into our hearts with wonder taking a chance that beneath the debris is the treasure of love God created in us today.

Be From Already!

What if we did not have to work for God’s favor? What if we conceded that by the mere fact of our breath, means we already have the benevolence of God in our lives?  What if God wanted us to remain aware of our already present infinite love and so she placed within us the ability to reconnect to it any time we got off track?  What if God does not make hard the terms by which to find him?  If we already have the ability to connect to God within us, what else do we need?  If God gave us life then I presume God might have some answers for our questions, our longings, our sufferings, and our desires.  In my life, my greatest suffering comes when I am left thinking I must figure it out on my own.  When I decide God would not want nothing to do with a particular element of my thinking or behavior, usually shameful in my eyes, I experience pain.  Who am I to decide what God can and cannot stomach?  What makes me think God is not already aware of what I am dealing with?  So I humbly bring it with me on our date and open my hands to reveal what I am afraid to reveal.  God reminds me on our date that he designed every itty bitty part of me and she sees me as whole and at peace.  God wants to remain in the wholeness of our relationship. A relationship where the conflicts of our hearts and minds can find peace.  Just because we have not experienced anything like this in the world, does not mean it does not exist.  We can invite God to take our hand and lead it to our heart as we take a deep breath and connect within. There we will find the peace and wholeness which is already ours.
My prayer for us is the humility to let go of the idea that God thinks only as we do and invite God to show us what is already present in our own hearts today.

Be From Transparency!

We are designed to be the transparency of love.  God created us in her image.  God crafted us out of love because it is who God is.  We do not need to worry ourselves if we are worthy or deserving.  If we wonder about that we are spending our wonder on unimportant things.  How do we know God finds us worthy of being the transparency of love?  We are alive.  We are breathing. We have within us a love so profound we can barely wrap our heads around it.  Why would the Great Creator design beings out of desire to share himself as less than?  It makes no sense that God created us for anything less than blessedness and purity.  It is not about us being worthy or fixed or made right or saved or cleaned-up.  It is about letting go of the beliefs we have taken on as a result of measuring ourselves by the standards of the world run by humans (including ourselves) with a limited perspective. We look at our circumstance and see ourselves as only them. We are phenomenal beings but when we reduce ourselves as only being able to fit into the configurations designed by our limited minds, we sell ourselves short.  We cannot be transparent if we are filled with stories and beliefs that stand in contrast to our very nature.  It is not easy to let go of these beliefs, I know this first hand.  It is a moment at a time process we are invited to engage in if we want to experience the blessedness of being within our own hearts.  When we are in a funk or find ourselves so clouded over with ideas of ourselves as less than, we need the hand of God to bring us gently back to our hearts.  God how do you see me in this moment?  God, how can I possibly be the transparency of love when love is the farthest thing from my mind in this moment?  It is humbling to acknowledge we do not know the truth of who we are, but God has not yet nor will she ever give up on us.
My prayer for us is the courage to humbly admit we are clouded over by ideas of ourselves which defy the transparency of love for which we are designed and reach out for God’s perspective today.

Be From Reservation!

The pause that can occur when we stop and breathe is fundamental to our functioning from our best selves.  It is not as though there are warring entities inside of us but we have several systems at play.  Most importantly is our survival.  Our biological needs come first, then safety, and then belonging.  After that we have our need for esteem and self-actualization.  Our brain’s most immediate response is going to be to react in order to sustain our survival needs.  Our highest expression of self is one that need not worry or focus on survival.  That is a given.  To operate from this higher expression of self we need to reserve our actions.  The pause gives us a chance to take a moment and step out of the automatic reaction.  As an incest survivor this often involves reminding myself where my feet and hands are.  I can experience a sound, touch, sight or smell that reminds my brain of something that was at one time dangerous. If I do not stop to breathe I will go into automatic motion of how to keep myself safe.  I am very grateful for this attribute as it saved my life.  But when I take a moment and reserve reaction, I can notice that I am not a child anymore.  I can presence myself in the moment I am in and take a step back before taking any action.  This enables me to react to the current situation I am in and not one from the past.  It happens so fast and so automatically we often do not stop to notice.  The  reservation of reaction is empowering in my life today in a way that I was not empowered as a child and it is worth all the breaths in the world.
My prayer for us is the willingness to reserve our reaction by taking a breath and pausing before we react today.

Be From Love!

If we could allow ourselves a few minutes to sit in the reality of who we are and receive it as the only true thing in existence we would be in love.  God created us from love for love.  When we are in our true selves we emanate the most powerful force in the universe.  Love is one of those overused and misused terms.  We have lost sight of what it means because we rely on the world for our definitions.  I am not sure we can fully grasp the breadth and depth of love as God understands love.  I think we can glimpse it and sense it in small ways.  To fully embrace it would require us to step outside of our knowing and connect with something greater than ourselves.  This is what God invites us to do.  We have some semblance of the presence of love through our human experience. God’s invitation is to remember in the deepest place of ourselves something for which there are no words or explanations. A space where being just is.  A moment when we are not limited by space and time.  In the ever-expanding universe God dwells in the mystery.  Our mind tells us it must be figured out but our hearts and souls long to be held in this experience where our mind can go quiet and we can feel the embrace of love eternal.  It is how we started out and it is where we are our fullest expression of ourselves lives. I realize this all sounds very flighty and magical but I believe God’s message to us is one of hope.  Every signal and evidence of love in the world is a reminder of who we are in God’s eyes.  Despite our circumstances, our thinking, and our beliefs about ourselves and the world, God’s rendering of the reality of love will always be more powerful.
My prayer for us is the willingness to take a chance and believe even for a moment that we have been created from a love that surpasses our understanding and can see evidence of it all around us today.

Be From Cognizance!

God knows who we are and always recognizes us as our truth.  As our Creator, God does not get caught up in the stories and layers of falsehoods that we place on top of our true essence.  I suppose this is part of what makes God greater than us.  We can easily get lost in our stories and circumstances.  I do all the time.  I perceive whatever I am going through as my full reality.  Yes, it is something I am walking through and present to at the moment, but it does not define me.  God is there and cognizant of the love God created us from.  God invites us to become equally cognizant of our true reality.  We are not chameleons who must change depending on our environment to survive.  Our purpose is not to meld into the scenery. God created us as forces of love and light.  We are to shine the magnificence of God’s loving presence in whatever situation we are in to the best of our ability.  It is hard to fathom that we could really play a role as profound as being the presence of light and love in every situation.  It is because we have stopped remembering ourselves as who we truly are.  On any given day we default to the roles we have, the things we own, and the emotional experiences we are having as a result of the situations we are in.  If I am faced with a trigger of an old memory and find myself disturbed by someone else’s behavior, I can quickly fall into thinking that facing those things are who I am. God invites me through my breath to pause and remember who I am and encourages me to be that in the presence of whatever is there.  It is not easy, but it is simple.
My prayer for us is the willingness to take the breath and pause to allow the cognizance of who we truly are settle into us for a moment before proceeding today.
