Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

Be Of Traveling!

God embraces all of us.  God created all of us.  When we find ourselves in a place that we did not intend to be.  We experience strife and grief or sadness and pain the tendency is to think we have done something wrong. We tend to have an either/or perspective on life.  We think that if we are in one of those undesired states we have traveled down a path that we cannot back from. Yes, they are powerful emotional experiences but the travel path does not define us.  Who we are at our core is never changed by outside circumstances.  Sometimes it is necessary to go down a darker travel path so that we can rely upon the light that is inside of us to see.  If we travel this path then we can help guide others back to the light of who they are.  Helping others reminds us of our light and together we shine even brighter.
My prayer for us is the recognition that the travel path we are on is always about reuniting us with the light within us no matter how dark it looks.
How could God assist you today in remembering and witness on whatever path you are traveling that your light of truth is in you? Share in the comments.

Be Of Inquiry!

God is about exploring and experiencing.  All of life provides us with an opportunity to discover what it has to offer.  There is an expression in recovery that I heard early on and stuck with me: “More will be revealed.” Behind the saying is the idea of being in today.  I can only go by what I know today and make the best decision and course of action based on what I know today.  It keeps me from future tripping and playing out worse case scenarios.  It leaves open the possibility of change and a trust of timing of things is in God’s hands.  When I am open, I am willing to inquire more and not feel threatened by what I do not know.  When I am willing to explore a possibility, there is less fear because I am in acceptance of what is present.  It is not a search to fix or change but to enhance my experience or be opened to a fuller perspective.
My prayer for us is the courage to embrace a level of inquiry about our lives this day.
If you could inquire into an area fo your just for fun, which one would you pick today?  Share in the comments.

Be Of Embracing!

God is the Ultimate.  To experience the wholeness and fullness of life we are called to embrace the wholeness of the experience we are living. I can think of a bunch of things I would like to experience one day.  And then there are those experiences that seem to happen out of nowhere.  Nothing you do can fully prepare you for them.  No amount of wishful thinking can make them not happen.  Life happens.  The degree to which I am able to be in acceptance of the totality of life is directly linked to my judgment of the goodness or worthiness of an experience.  This is where I continually bring my thoughts to God and say, “okay, here is what is happening, I don’t like it because as far as I can tell. . . but I am willing to see it differently.  Show me how this is an experience that will help me to grow in love.  Open my heart and my eyes to embrace the opportunity for growth.”  There is sometimes a long pause before the willingness of the second part of the prayer shows up.  It depends on how much I am enjoying fighting reality under the guise of “this shouldn’t be happening!”  I have been experiencing this a lot in my work place recently and so I have concluded that at the very least, there are multiple openings for God to show me the breadth and depth of love growth that can occur in the everyday experience.  For today, I am willing to learn.  We will see what tomorrow brings.

My prayer for us is the courage to let go of our agenda and embrace the surprises of growth in love through the ordinary today.
God is willing to guide us through anything and everything that we invite God to. What area of your life might be experienced differently if you embraced God’s offer of guidance today?  Share in the comments.

Be Of Wonder!

God has designed a world of beauty for us to enjoy.  Even more magical is the extent to which God has made present the beauty of love in so many ways.  It is a wonder we don’t fall over in the sheer joy of how much we are loved when we look at all that is around us and within us.  Children do it all the time because they exist in a state of wonder.  The world and its surroundings hold such fascination because they are interested in discovering it.  The quality of wonder is still within us as adults we just become numb to it.  We put a higher importance on knowing the answer, having it all figured out, and being an authority.  We intelligently recognize patterns and then to save brain power memorize them so we don’t have to do things from scratch all the time.  These are wonderful tools of our mind for living, but they can numb us to the wonder and beauty of life that is present with us at all times.
My prayer for us is the curiosity to find wonder in the beauty and love within and outside ourselves today.
If God created all things with love and beauty, what wonderful elements of life are you interested in exploring today?  Share in the comments.

Be Of Starting!

God stands with us and within us as the greatest measure of loving presences in existence.  God does not stand separate from creation.  How could God separate from that which is an extension of God? We are not separate from God but believe that we are.  This belief is what drives us to take on the need to control our lives, think we are responsible for more than we are, and rebel against authority because in our eyes we have been abandoned.  It is an illusion of our ego that we are separate from God or could ever be. EGO=Edging God Out.  So how do we go about keeping this illusion from running our lives?  We start by recognizing it.  We start by acknowledging it as something we adopted to help us get through something at some point in our lives.  We start by admitting that it no longer creates the sense of peace and safety that it may once has. When we grow up, we grow out of ways of thinking and being that no longer serve us if we have the courage to embrace change.  It is simple but not easy.  I find the willingness to let go of one old idea of how I am separate from God is enough to get me started today.
My prayer for us today is the courage and willingness to notice where we think we are separate from God in our lives and how that area of our life is working today.
If we are not separate from God, what could God do that would help us to start remember our connection today?  Share in the comments.

Be Of Beingness!

God is beingness of love.  When we find ourselves living and being the demonstration of love it is God working through us.  It isn’t about a feeling that we have it is about who we are being.  You could also look at it as who we are not being.  Being Love is who we are at our core.  The times we find ourselves acting in opposition to love or apathetic about love, we are showing that we are disconnected from our true self.  At the time of our creation and even before God fashioned a beingness of love in us.  We cannot run or hide from it.  We can pile lots of stuff on top of it.  We can deny that it is true for us.  We can masquerade around as though we are not effected by our being anything less than love.  In the end, however we only hurt ourselves.  The illusion that we buy into is thinking that the reason we are not able to be the love we are is because of other people or situations we have experienced.  But no person or situation is greater than God.  It is about us claiming our connection to God which never goes away no matter how distant we feel from it.  Sometimes I find myself saying is God,” I know you are here with me in the dark even when I don’t want to be here with me.  I wish I could feel you but it’s just not happening right now.  Help me to carry on being in love through my actions while my thoughts and feelings catch up.”

My prayer for us is the courage to hold on to the knowledge of our hearts which tell us who we really are even when we don’t feel like being love today.
If God is greater than any person or circumstance who acts out of a lack of love, what would your prayer to God be to encourage you to continue to be love in the face of lack today?  Share in the comments.

Be Of Purpose!

God guides us through an internal knowing.  From this knowing extends our sense of purpose.  We can sense that knowing if we slow down and take a moment to connect.  This is where my date time with God, otherwise known as daily prayer and meditation, comes into play.  We all know when we are choosing from our hearts.  We sense a peace in knowing we are making the right decision for that moment. Our purpose comes in living from our hearts.  Our purpose is to be happy.  God wants us to be happy.  Living from our hearts enables that happiness to guide our purpose.  We tend to think of happiness as something we gain from outside of ourselves.  We think that when we reach a certain stature, own a certain item, or have a net worth of a certain amount we will be happy.  We can certainly enjoy these things but because they do not come from our hearts, they are fleeting.  God invites us quietly and from within ourselves to explore our true happiness and fulfill our purpose of living from our hearts.
My prayer for us is the willingness to spend some time in meditation today getting to know our hearts and thus our purpose.
If all you needed to do to connect with your purpose is spend a few minutes meditating on your heart each day, how could God assist you in making it happen?  Share in the comments.

Be Of Soleness!

God has one directive and it is love.  We are creations of God so our directive is the same.  Our sole purpose is to be the expression of love. It is easy to get distracted and think we are here for other reasons.  The job, the relationship, the house, the car, the political cause are the content through which we can be the expression of love.  Those things, however are not the sole purpose of our being.  Our sole purpose is being the presence of love expressed in all areas of our lives.  Sometimes the most powerful opportunities come in the smallest of experiences. The other day I found myself in a room full of people for a quarterly meeting.  We all do the same kind of work and gathered for some updates.  I could easily convince myself that my purpose is to prove that I am doing an excellent job or ask the right questions.  I did participate, ask questions, and share my experience but the interactions that powerfully touched my heart were in the smiles and hellos we exchanged.  The power of looking someone in the eye, acknowledging her presence and listening to the excitement about her new grand baby allowed me to feel the joy. Being present as a stance for the love of who each person is in that moment is my sole purpose and it is where my joy was that day.
My prayer for us is the courage to remember the soleness of purpose by being the presence of love today.
If God is the presence of love and we are created by God then what joyful might you obtain by solely focusing on your ability to be the presence of love for yourself and others today?  Share in the comments.

Be Of Permission!

God loves because God is love.  At the end of the day we do not need to permit love for it to occur.  It happens as naturally as the wind blowing.  For me the difficulty comes in allowing myself to receive the love. I was talking with a close friend of mine a couple of days ago and she expressed  how important it was to her that she hear what I had to say.  A simple enough statement but one that made me want to cry.  I spent many years of my life thinking people weren’t listening and therefore did not care what I had to say.  I thought I needed to rush through whatever it is that I was saying and not take up any more of their time than necessary.  A story based on some circumstances from the past that were not happening in the present.  Allowing for love in whatever form comes in giving myself permission to be in the present moment.  Permission to let go of the stories that developed out of circumstances I am not currently experiencing.  God gives me the courage to permit myself to receive love.
My prayer for us is the willingness to let go of what is keeping up from receiving love in whatever from it presents itself.

If God is ready and waiting to bestow love on you, what might you need to permit yourself to let go of to make room for that love today?  Share in the comments.

Be Of Seeing!

We can choose with any breath, at any moment, to enter into a deeper sense of reality by connecting with our hearts.  Our power comes from the coherence created by the joining of our hearts and minds.  God wants us to fully experience all life has to offer not just in mind but also body, soul, and spirit.  This means bringing all of ourselves to the table.  This means exploring the world of inner selves so that we might change the perception of our outer reality.  Recently I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes by Marcel Proust: ” The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”  All that we perceive outside of ourselves comes from the perception inside of ourselves.  This is why two people present at the same event can have two completely different experiences. The fullness of life’s experiences comes in broadening the eyes through which we see.  A joining of our hearts and minds allows us to not just see but feel and connect with what we are seeing.  Our hearts encourage us to place ourselves in oneness with the experience we are seeing.  Our hearts invite us to see the similarities and connections between our inner experience and outer reality.  Our minds alone see the differences but our hearts allow us to embrace the beauty of those differences because we can simultaneously sense the deeper similarities.
My prayer for us is the courage to seek a new voyage by shifting our seeing from only a mindset to a mind and heart set today.
If we could honor that which is outside of ourselves by seeing it through the eyes of our hearts, what new voyages of discovery might you experience today?  Share in the comments.
