God uplifts and encourages! Engaging in the beauty of relationships with God means remembering the esteem in which God holds us. We cannot simultaneously depend on God and view ourselves as less than worthy without a conflict in our being. If I am willing to trust in God’s perspective on things I have to include God’s perspective of me. Sometimes my resistance to welcoming God more fully into my life stems from not being open to God’s view of me. I get stuck in my own perceptions, created by my limited mind and forget God’s perspective is deeper and wider than what I can comprehend with my head. I need a boost. My daily prayer and meditation routine is about my willingness to receive the boost of perspective and set my course for the day.

Be Of Significance!
God is intentional. When we awaken to the genius of God’s creative spirit within us we open our eyes to our true selves. God created every facet of our being and we are encouraged to take hold of it and claim it as our true identity. Playing small is a denial of this truth of ourselves. For many years I thought being humble meant being invisible and quiet. I carried around the idea based on circumstances that it didn’t matter what I had to say anyway, so why bother attempting to be heard. Recognizing that God created me to be of significance required me to let go of this story. It has been a process but each time I choose to focus on God’s significance present in me, the freer I am to be myself.
My prayer for us is the willingness to see our significance through the eyes of our Creator.

Be Of Surprises!
The beauty of God is ingenuity. The delight of being in relationship with God is the unexpected ways in which God continually shows up. There is an element of our being that embraces the excitement of love’s manifestation. When our perspective is driven from our heart space we are able to focus on the energy and experience of form rather than the form itself. We let go of the need for the content and revel in the process. The journey becomes the destination. Our hearts have an ongoing rhythm that seemingly goes nowhere. We only notice it when it stops because all of our body’s processes are dependent upon it. God invites us to let go and be open to the surprises of life that sometimes stop our hearts and capture our attention. In the moment of surprise we can choose to embrace the joy of the novelty of how God is present in our lives, run out of fear, or refuse to see it because it doesn’t match our preconceived form of who and what God is.
My prayer for us is the openness to see God in the process of life and enjoy the surprise of it today.

Be Of Playing!
God invites us each day to the symphony of life. When all is said and done and the final note of our symphony is played the composer will be there. We are given an opportunity to play some tremendous notes in orchestra of life. It matters little if we are wind or brass instrument. It matters not if our notes are high or low. We all have a part to play and without us the symphony is simply not as the Composer intended. Can you imagine one of Beethoven’s symphony’s without the violin? Or Ravel’s Bolero without the oboe? Even for an untrained ear, when listened to carefully, one would notice the distinction. The vibration of the notes is not the same, the flow of the notes lacks a certain something. God calls us to be the instrument of His work because no one else can play the role in the symphony the way we can. Even if we do not notice the distinction that our presence makes, the world ultimately does and will not benefit from our contribution to the majesty of an orchestrated life when we are willing to play.
My prayer for us is the willingness to show up and be conducted on in playing our part on this path of majesty today.

Be Of Preparation!
In the realm of the Spirit there is nothing we cannot handle. The idea of not being ready for something does not exist. The fear of lack of preparation is a human mind construct. Everything that is happening in our lives is in essence a preparation for the next step. We think things don’t count because they aren’t what we expected. We imagine that there are specific interactions or experiences that must happen before we can be ready to deal with certain things. This comes from the idea of needing to know something before we experience it. It can be helpful to have working knowledge of something before we experience it, but it can also stand in our way. God is about the present moment. When we are right here, right now, in alignment with God and our highest self we have everything we need to face what is in our face. The only preparation we need is the courage to stay in the moment we are in.
My prayer for us today is the courage to let go of worry about what might be and preparing for love by being where we are today.

Be Of Perseverance!
God’s consistency of love defies reason. As someone who likes to understand things I find myself often confounded. Reason and understanding are not always available. People act in ways that I cannot comprehend. Situations occur that have no rational basis. If I only look at life through the perspective of my reasoning brain, I come up short. Here is where the heart comes into play. The energy of my heart where love echoes provides the sustenance to keep persevering at life. It is not reasonable to find a way to love someone who irritates me, but love has shown me freedom when I am willing to do it anyway. It makes no sense that bad things happen to good people, but my heart’s energy extends a cloak of trust in the fullness of the universal experience that sees beyond just right and wrong. On any given day there are a million reasons to give up and throw in the towel. Yet the gentle nudging of God’s voice in the chambers of our hearts gives us the energy to persevere in hope, faith and love.
My prayer for us is the courage to incorporate a more heart-centered perspective on life providing us with a God-given perseverance to do today to the fullest.

Be Of Radiance!
The glow of light that is forever burning in your heart can never be distinguished. It can appear to have dimmed but it never goes away. The light within you came pre-installed. God placed this radiating energy in our hearts and it is what keeps us connected to God. When we tune into an awareness of this light it begins to radiate through us. When we notice the radiation within other people it awakens our own. We can be present to our light and the light of others. This presence allows the light to grow stronger and spread through our entire being. It radiates the message of love in its energetic waves in us and those around us. One of the greatest gifts we can give to each other is the recognition of each other’s light. I remember the people in my life who saw the light radiating within me when I had forgotten how to access it. Their recognition allowed it to begin to radiate with me again. I hope I have managed to do the same for others.
My prayer for us is the willingness to witness the radiant light that exists within ourselves and others.

Be Of Traveling!
God embraces all of us. God created all of us. When we find ourselves in a place that we did not intend to be. We experience strife and grief or sadness and pain the tendency is to think we have done something wrong. We tend to have an either/or perspective on life. We think that if we are in one of those undesired states we have traveled down a path that we cannot back from. Yes, they are powerful emotional experiences but the travel path does not define us. Who we are at our core is never changed by outside circumstances. Sometimes it is necessary to go down a darker travel path so that we can rely upon the light that is inside of us to see. If we travel this path then we can help guide others back to the light of who they are. Helping others reminds us of our light and together we shine even brighter.
My prayer for us is the recognition that the travel path we are on is always about reuniting us with the light within us no matter how dark it looks.

Be Of Inquiry!
God is about exploring and experiencing. All of life provides us with an opportunity to discover what it has to offer. There is an expression in recovery that I heard early on and stuck with me: “More will be revealed.” Behind the saying is the idea of being in today. I can only go by what I know today and make the best decision and course of action based on what I know today. It keeps me from future tripping and playing out worse case scenarios. It leaves open the possibility of change and a trust of timing of things is in God’s hands. When I am open, I am willing to inquire more and not feel threatened by what I do not know. When I am willing to explore a possibility, there is less fear because I am in acceptance of what is present. It is not a search to fix or change but to enhance my experience or be opened to a fuller perspective.
My prayer for us is the courage to embrace a level of inquiry about our lives this day.

Be Of Embracing!
God is the Ultimate. To experience the wholeness and fullness of life we are called to embrace the wholeness of the experience we are living. I can think of a bunch of things I would like to experience one day. And then there are those experiences that seem to happen out of nowhere. Nothing you do can fully prepare you for them. No amount of wishful thinking can make them not happen. Life happens. The degree to which I am able to be in acceptance of the totality of life is directly linked to my judgment of the goodness or worthiness of an experience. This is where I continually bring my thoughts to God and say, “okay, here is what is happening, I don’t like it because as far as I can tell. . . but I am willing to see it differently. Show me how this is an experience that will help me to grow in love. Open my heart and my eyes to embrace the opportunity for growth.” There is sometimes a long pause before the willingness of the second part of the prayer shows up. It depends on how much I am enjoying fighting reality under the guise of “this shouldn’t be happening!” I have been experiencing this a lot in my work place recently and so I have concluded that at the very least, there are multiple openings for God to show me the breadth and depth of love growth that can occur in the everyday experience. For today, I am willing to learn. We will see what tomorrow brings.
My prayer for us is the courage to let go of our agenda and embrace the surprises of growth in love through the ordinary today.
