One of the beautiful descriptions about the beginning of creation in the Hebrew Scriptures is the way that it describes light.  How God brought light into the world.  It does not explain light as better than darkness.  It is described as an experience in which the world and its surroundings can be better seen and appreciated.  As each new phase of creation is introduced it explains that there is day and then night and God says that it is good.  We are created in light, we are created for light. When we are in moments of darkness we can be assured based on how the Creator designed the world, that light is around the bend. And, if we were to take the scriptures literally, it is going to be the next step of creation for our lives that will come with the new day.  To me this means that when I am experiencing light and darkness that there is a  light within me (God) that never goes out.  It is always lit.  My job is to remember to stay connected with that.  In fact, in those moments of darkness the people around me can often see the light that is around the bend before I can.  All that has been created in me does not disappear in the darkness but is built upon with the next stage of light.  Makes life that much more exciting of what comes next when I am in the darkness.  My prayer for you today is whether you are experiencing a time of light or darkness that you know that God–the light of all lights is still within you.  Make it a great one!
