Life is not a sprint to the finish line, but we sometimes treat it as such. The race of life is like a to do list that we need to check off so that we can get it all “done.” So what happens when we are done? If there is nothing left to do, then we don’t need to be here anymore. There seems to be a pervading fear of death and yet a hurriedness to complete this life. If we base our lives on the idea that we are human doings then that makes sense. But if we truly are human beings then it is not about the to do list and the things we get done but who we are Being as we walk through life, take part, and experience the fullness of our existence. Maybe that is why Jesus, Buddha, Moses, etc. never had a “to do” list. They pointed out guidelines for fullness of a living experience and had recommendations on how the best way to go about it with a full heart of love, but they never spoke of “getting it done.” My prayer for us today is that we remember that we want to make the most of this day, this moment, and be our best selves, but BE it, not DO it. Make it a great one! Peace~Colleen
