The light of love present in us is remarkable.  This light from our creator is the light that even when we are blinded to it, never goes out.  It is meant not only to reflect the love present in us but give us the power and creativity to illuminate others.  We enhance each other when we allow our lights to shine in and through us.  By recognizing the light in each other we allow it to grow and connect us to each other.  The power of this illumination sustains the light in the dark spaces where only a flicker is present.  God only sees what is illuminated by the light because it is God that makes is present in the world.  We can participate in this illumination when we remember our connection to God and to one another.  The essence of illumination is in it sustaining power to uphold the presence of love.  If we can witness the light in ourselves and others we are witnessing love.  In the course of a day it is easy to get swallowed up by the forces of darkness. All around us are news reports of things going wrong.  It is easy to find ourselves joining the collective conversation of complaints and irritations.  After all, and what else are we supposed to think and do when things don’t go our way?  God encourages us to gather our hearts and focus on the illuminating power of love wherever we can find it.  Whether it is in nature, a simple smile of a stranger, taking a deep breath, thinking of something we are grateful for, or something that makes us laugh. The slightest shift in focus breathes life into the illumination happening in us from which we momentarily disconnected.  When we redirect our attention to it we can re-attune ourselves to the presence of love in the moment.
