Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

Be in Linkage!

We are all connected to each other, to ourselves, and to God.  The key is to remember this.  It is easy to forget because our minds focus on the differences and the separation.  Our ego is all about separateness.  The funny thing is that it is simply a perception shift.  The moment I begin to notice the connections it is as though those connections multiply.  What we focus on expands.  If I am feeling disconnected, out of sync, separate, or other than all I have to do is shift my focus to the similarities between me and the people around me.  At a very basic level I can start with what is acceptable–we are all human, we all have a heart, we walk on two legs, etc.  I have a tendency in my separateness to think that the other person’s motives are different from mine, but we all have the same ultimate motive=LOVE.  It is where we come from and when it is all over, it is where we will return. The way that we go about connecting and living in that love may differ greatly.  But, how different would I feel about a person who is bothering me if I stopped and asked myself–how are they longing to be loved today?  Maybe the very thing they are doing that irritates me or that I do not understand about them is the best they can do to connect with love?  Maybe it isn’t about anything they are doing to me?  I don’t know about you, but I don’t spend my days thinking about what I can do to other people–I don’t have that kind of time.  I do the best I can to make it through my day and hopefully I have moments of thinking about what I can do for other people.  Then I have another translation of what I am experiencing: when I am “bothered” by what I perceive others as doing to me, I can stop and ask, “What if what is happening is for me?”  I then turn to God and ask how I can learn from this experience, this person, and our connection, our linkage becomes a reality.  We all serve each other in our growth towards connecting with the love that is who we are in our essence.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to seeing how life happens for us not to us.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Wonderful!

Science has shown us that we can reconstruct and create new pathways of circuitry in our brain and one of the main ways to do this is to shift our focus.  Our survival focus is on what is wrong here.  A way to help shift into a new focus is to start with what we are grateful for.  I find that no matter what I am experiencing I can find things to be grateful for.  When I do that it shift my mood and I am better able to handle whatever it is.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to shifting into the wonder of going through an experience by starting with what we are grateful for.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Lightening!

This magical experience occurs in our lives when we know deeply that we are loved.  LOVE transforms and transcends all worries and fears.  The sense of being loved is so powerful that it is not even something that we can fully comprehend in our minds.  So much so that even just the discussion of it will send our minds into an argument of impossibility.  That is why all things are possible with God.  LOVE makes all things possible.  If we truly get deep down that we are loved, not because we do the right things, not because we have the right answers, not because we are perfect–we are loved because we were created from love.  No other reasons.  No need to qualify.  It is simply a matter of acceptance.  Over the years we have built up evidence to the contrary and we are so used to listening to our own heads and taking our thoughts as truth that we stopped questioning their validity.  It is a freeing and light experience of life to walk in the truth of who we are.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to accepting, even if for just a minute, that we are loved completely and totally just as we are in that moment.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Propinquity!

Perhaps the reason that God created us out of oneness is because God wanted to always keep us close.  Perhaps the reason that we can sense God in our spirit and our hearts is because God wants us to sense His nearness at our core.  I could spend hours wondering all the whys of God but I find it more fruitful spending time in the presence of God.  How I can connect with God at any given moment is all I need to know to maintain that propinquity to God?  Some days I connect when I pay attention to my breath.  Other days when I come across something that makes me smile.  And yet other days it happens when I am moved to tears.  When I can sense God in the good, the bad, the ugly, the profound, the simple, the beauty, the discomfort then I know I am close.  It matters little how I connect with God only that I do under any circumstance.  I have spent plenty of time in my life feeling distanced from God due to my way of seeing things, but ultimately those times served a purpose as well because I can now recognize my dis-ease as a disconnection from my Creator.  Those times I spent far away from any real idea of God taught me what it feels like mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically.  Now when I come across that familiar sense, I can recognize it for what it is and ask, “Hey God, you still there?” It simply requires an honest admission, “God I cannot see you or sense you but I know that you are All That Is, so open my eyes or mind or heart or whatever within me that has closed off the notion of you being present. Thank you.”  My prayer for us today is that we be willing to accept that we sometimes block ourselves from God in ways we don’t imagine and recognize that it gives God a chance to show up in a way that we don’t imagine or recognize if we simply ask.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Day-by-day!

When we project ideas or thoughts past the day we are living in we jump our minds into the unknown.  Our mind seizes on the unknown with a fair amount of trepidation because by its very nature the uncertainty causes uneasiness.  Now if we have one of those minds that foresees positive outcomes then we are in a place of peace.  If however, like most survival minds, we are projecting possible needs to create safety and protection, our mind goes into a place of fear.  This activates our cells to get ready for fight or flight.  However, we have lost where we are in the moment and replaced it with some imaginary future.  Our mind and body do not know the difference and so all the systems are activated and in the present moment we are experiencing the future as though it is happening now because we have placed ourselves in that future we have imagined.  How powerful our minds are!  But if I stop, pause, bring myself back to this moment and this day, place tomorrow in God’s hands, and breathe I am returned to peace.  It is an invitation to trust in God always.  When I come back to this day, God is present in the Fullness of All that is and waiting for me to gift him with my presence.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to letting go of an imaginary future and choose to be in this moment with All that Is.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Discipline!

Discipline typically gets a bad rap.  Perhaps its it the image of being in trouble or called to the principal’s office.  One definition of discipline has to do with punishment but the one I am writing about is the one that is connected to following a practice and of self-control: “training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties, or moral character.”  The question is what discipline do we follow on a day-to-day basis?  We are aligning ourselves with something.  It is the world that tells us that we need to be, do and have more.  Is it our religious practice that tells us we must be kind, giving, and self-less?  Is it the media who tells us we need to be more like the lives of the people who we see on TV and in the movies?  Is it our family values? Whatever training it is that we use to align or discipline ourselves with, it is important that we choose it.  There are many great things that come out of so many places, but often we are still following them without questioning them.  Some may still be in alignment with our true selves, our God-selves.  Some may have outlived their usefulness.  Often if they have outlived their usefulness they cause us some discord. We have to force them upon or ourselves and we have to “should” ourselves to engage.  My prayer for us today is that we be willing to wake up to an idea that we have been mindlessly going along with and ask God to show us if that particular discipline is still in alignment with who we are in God’s eyes. Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Certainty!

The beautiful thing (so many to choose from 😉 ) about God is that God is much more than our human mind can fathom.  Who and What God IS, surpasses our human understanding. Just try to wrap your head around all the mysteries of this vast universe and you are touching upon the magnificence and magnanimity of the Great Creator.  We get hints and senses of God.  We experience God within our realm of understanding and sometimes outside our realm of understanding, but that is just a small portion.  For some, it is therefore pointless t o seek God because they will only touch a small part of the whole.  For others it invites the adventure to see how much of God we can experience today.  I figure why not continue to seek and be surprised and touched by how God chooses to reveal His Greatness each time.  Everything in this life passes, nothing is certain.  The only constant is LOVE.  The certainty of the breadth and depth of GOD is what makes life worth living. It is in the seeking that we find who we are in God.  It may seem as though we are seeking outside of ourselves but actually the closer we come to experience God we step closer into our own hearts.  That is the certainty upon which we can build our lives–God dwells within our hearts.  This is what our spirit whispers to us in those quiet moments.  My prayer for us today is that when we are frustrated and disheartened by the uncertainty and unreliability of life, that we take a long deep breath, place our hand on our hearts and remember that just as it beat, so God is there.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen.

Be in Flow!

There is a song I learned as a child and the main line is, “Love is flowing like a river, flowing out of you and me.”  I can still hear the group of us singing in music class.  And that is just how love works.  It is the flow of life.  When I let go of my mind’s ideas of how things should be and stop fighting what is, I am in the flow of life.  The flow of life is guided by love.  When I am in the flow I am not worried about whether or not I am going to get “mine” or feel the need to protect myself.  When I am in the flow of life, I am trusting that the Creator who created me and all things, has  a rhythm and it is okay for me to be a part of it.  Sometimes people refer to being in the flow as being in the “Zone”.  Whatever terminology we use matters little.  Flow is a place of trust, of heart, of spirit, of breath in and out, in and out.  My prayer for us today is that when we find ourselves caught in the restricted turmoil of our minds, we have the courage to pause and breathe and get connected to the flow of our breath which will connect us to the flow of life which is love.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Solution!

My head is full of ideas.  Most of which come at me all at once.  Then I will latch on to one and run with it.  Its like a relay race-lol!  We all have this inherited mindset to search out issues or problems to solve to make sure that we are safe–thanks to the caveman part of our brain.  So often the first thoughts we have are centered around that.  What is wrong here?  What needs to be fixed? Then the answers we come up with feed into the meaning that most closely matches the stories we created with our ego.  When we have a spiritual consciousness we can begin to separate from our thinking and not get attached, but often it happens so quickly we don’t even realize it and we are off to the races.  A simple tactic that I use to stop the race is to first thank my head for sharing its thoughts, after all it is making a contribution.  And then ask, okay, if that is true what is the solution here?  I get that there will be problems, that there is problems is not a problem unless I want to stay in the problem.  But life is about how can I grow from this?  How can I learn to love because of this situation?  Those are where my solutions lie.  My prayer for us today is that we be willing to look at the thought (the batton that is passed to us in the relay race of life) and say thank you, and God what solutions do you have?  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Heart-Strength!

Have you ever noticed that human beings are capable of doing things that are beyond their physical strength when the situation calls for it? We hear stories of people who rescued others in the middle of a hurricane by lifting and carrying someone heavier than themselves.  People who faced falling buildings and managed to get themselves out from underneath a trap by lifting something much stronger than they were.  It is in those moments that our heart strength somehow extends into our physical strength.  If it happens with us physically then it is possible to believe that it can happen to us emotionally.  When we are faced with a situation in our lives, in our relationships, that seems beyond our capability then there is heart-strength within us that will show up if we let it.  It is when we are in our minds, trying to figure it out that we often get blocked.  Maybe because the answer will not come from our thinking, only from our being.  When we show up, be present and open ourselves to the power of love in any situation the impossible becomes possible because God shows up and we don’t get in the way.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to setting aside our mind-strength to allow for some heart-strength to be present in our day.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen
