Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

Be in Illumination!

We all have this magnificent beautiful light that lives within us.  We were born with it and it carries all the power of the universe within it because that power is what placed it there.  It disperses its energy through out our bodies and our minds and most importantly it emanates from our hearts.  Sometimes we go through experiences that tells us that the light is not within us, it does not exist, the flame has been blown out and we are no longer connected to the Creator that placed that light within us.  The good news is that is not true.  The Creator of all Creation would not have given you a light that could not withstand all situations and circumstances.  Each time you take a breath and connect with your life force, that light begins to illuminate.  But we sometimes don’t even pay attention to the magnificence of our own breath that goes in and out of our body all day long.  Do you know when your last breath will be?  Neither do I.  Doesn’t that make the ones we have that much more precious?  The light of life and breath that resides deep within us does not go away because we have had experiences that are less than life-giving or full of darkness.  Those experiences instead give us an opportunity to search within us and connect yet again with who we truly are.  My prayer for us today is when we find ourselves in a dark moment of life, we ask God to remind us of the light that is within us and ask that it illuminate our experience of the darkness.  Make it a great one! Peace~Colleen

Be in Emergence!

The world is full of energy.  Energy is the life force that is all around us and within us.  We are made up of cells that carry energy.  Energy is seen and unseen.  There are different kinds of energy–physical, emotional, spiritual, etc.  What we define as matter is a cluster of energy that has taken a certain shape.  We often measure things in time. From that standpoint–all is equal.  We each get the same amount of time–meaning no one gets more than 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, etc.  But how we spend that time is about our energy usage.  Do you ever have days that seem to drag on and on?  And other days that fly by?  It is not as though one of those days was 36 hours and the other was only 20, the measurement is actually in how you expended your energy.  When we are in the flow of things and our energy is moving through us, time seems to fly by.  When we are enraptured by being present in the moment, time seems to stand still.  time does not change, but our energy levels are changing constantly. We can look at how we are spending our energy to have an idea of where we can make adjustments in our lives so that our time spent more fruitfully.  When we emerge from our day, having taken some time to connect with the Greatest Energy of all, then we are ready to face the day head on.  When we arent’ spinning our energies trying to change life to suit ourselves we have more energy to be present and enjoy life.  When I take time each morning on my date to connect with the Energy Creator–I emerge connected as though I had plugged into the greatest force of the universe–cuz I did.  I am not saying I float in and through my day and nothing bothers me, but rather I remember when I am bothered to pause and reconnect so I can emerge into a situation and flow from a place of connection instead of disconnection.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to looking at how we emerge from our day and what it would mean for us to flow from a place of Great Connection.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Abdication!

We have a choice when a situation occurs or when a thought comes to mind. Our choice is to hold on to it or let it go.  Some things we hold on to temporarily and then let go. The ones to watch for are the ones that we hold on to and choose to integrate into our sense of self.  We have an amazing capacity for adaptability as human beings and even though we don’t realize it, it means that we are very capable of change.  I have learned that maturity is a process of letting go.  Given that things are always changing, I am granted opportunities to evaluate that which I have accumulated over the years and decide if they are still useful in my life.  I do this with the physical things in my life, but isn’t it just as important to do it with ideas and ways of being?  I wear out clothes, electric equipment I use is outdated–heck we rush out to get the latest cell phone version but our resistant to upgrading ourselves?  The ones that I have the hardest time abdicating are the ones that I have integrated into my sense of self.  I experience the pain of the retention of an old idea only to the extent to which I am resistant to letting it go.  When I believe that it is an essential part of who I am then fear creeps in to ask “Who will you be without this?”  How about freer?  Freer to live in the moment, freer to be open to what is possible, freer to grow into something more than I could have imagined myself to be.  God marvels at how we grow and change over time and moment to moment. I wonder if God is saddened when we hold on so tightly to one thing and cannot have an open hand to receive something greater?  The beauty and patience of God is that when we are ready to let go, God is ready to give.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to looking at one idea of how we define ourselves and ask, is this one idea whose time has come to rest?  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Are you willing to stop and ask yourself if one of those ideas of who you are is still true today?  Share in the comments.

Be in Beyond!

One of the beauties (and there are so many to choose from 😉 ) of being in relationship with God is that one’s relationship to the present begins to change. In the past, for me, the notion of being in the present was merely an idea of mentally just focusing on my day.  At the time, my head was so full of unprocessed stories about the past and the future which kept me in a fog, not to mention the sugar (very handy for being able to deal with those stories) and so being mentally present was a challenge.  Not that I was aware of any of this on a conscious level.  All I knew was that life just kind of sucked.  Sure, I knew how to be grateful and recognized that there were people starving in Africa and those who didn’t even have a roof over their heads in the rough part of town.  But, I simply used that knowledge to beat myself up for not being of a better state of mind.  I made myself wrong (one of my favorite defaults) for not snapping out of it.  I see now that I simply was not ready to face up to what I needed to face up to and today I accept that I needed to be in that phase of my life because that is where I was.  Today, having taken stock of my life and looked in the dark spaces that I was so afraid to sit still and quiet with, I am much more at peace with myself and the world.  This is a process, a continual process, and some days are better than others, but I much prefer living a little more awake than being asleep.  The reason is that I am awakened to the fact that God truly is present with me.  It is not simply knowledge of the mind but a sense in my heart and my spirit.  One that allows me to ride through the times when I don’t “feel” the presence of God.  It is as though I have connected with that which is beyond my human experience and it continually guides me moment to moment.  Some call it the Spirit, others call it the Universe.  I find it matters little what I call it, only that I call upon it.  When I am in those dark moments and I cannot see past my own nose, I know the connection to the beyond is only a breath away.  It is a dip into inspiration.  That breath can take me into a meditation time, an opportunity to see the person in front of me, a connection with my body, or just a chance to let the air out of my head.  How a simple breath can connect with something beyond me is beyond my understanding and for today that is exactly how it is meant to be.  My prayer for us today is that we be willing in the midst of wherever we are to stop and take a breath and for a moment connect with the beyond (God).  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Neediness!

I know just typing that my mind goes into a frenzy.  Being needy on any level is very much looked down upon in our super self-sufficient culture.   The funny thing is that there are many things throughout our day that we rely on, that we need.  My car to function to get to work, the computer in my office, my phone to reach people, attendees to show up to my class, the workers at the grocery store to label the products and check me out, my parents to have found each other attractive enough at one point to have sex so I could be born, and so on.  It is about embracing a health sense of neediness.  In the truest sense of the word, I need God.  God is the Creator of all creations and I am dependent upon God.  My ego abhors this idea because it flies in the face of its pseudo-independence.  The true spiritual reality is that life is about interdependence and within that is a need for all of us to need each other and God.  My prayer for us today is that we see the beauty in our need for God.  Make it great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Heeding!

When we stop and pause long enough past the clamor of our minds we have a sense of where we are heading, who we truly are and an inner call to our Creator.  We often don’t want to wade through the madness that first arises when we get quiet to get to that place but if we can stick it out long enough, it will be worth it.  Being able to find a quiet space in our minds and connect with our hearts will allow us to heed that inner call of who we are = LOVE.  It is not mumbo jumbo or psychobabble, it is actual hard science in how our brain works.  When we are in a more relaxed state and our breathing is calm, we can be present and open to what is happening.  If we are busy thinking and worrying and fearing the next move, we are anxious and stress-filled.  Starting where we are is essential.  When I first started these morning dates with God my head was so loud I wasn’t even sure that God was really there, but I just kept showing up and doing it anyway.  Now I look forward to the quiet time with God and embrace the imperfect way that I show up but choose to show up anyway.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to taking a chance on stepping into the quiet even if it doesn’t seem so quiet on our first attempts.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Consecration!

Our birth brought about the manifestation of an agreement of a demonstration of love.  God shares part of God through us to the world.  We are called to live out the mission of which we come from.  Our souls and our spirits know this completely.  That is why they are a bit restless and discomforted when we are living solely out of our ego.  But because of God’s great love for us we are given ample opportunity to create this sacredness through those experiences as well.  God uses every situation, every experience, and every person to bring us back to that identity of sacredness, that reminder of our consecration.  When we are closely identifying with the physical world in which we are existing we do not see opportunities for sacredness and consecration, we see only disruption and strife.  But what if those experiences of frustration, anger, disempowerment, angst, let down, and disappointment were a larger calling to return to that for which we were truly made.  Gifts come in the strangest of packages.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to seeing our dark or troubling experiences as a portal through which to again be reminded of the sacredness with which we were created.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Usefulness!

Deep down we each have a question in our hearts.  We want to know that we matter.  We want to believe that when all is said and done we have played an important role in this world.  It is both a question of the ego and of the heart.  It is what drives us to keep going when all the chips are down.  Even when we do not have a specific answer to our question, the seeking and the life of the question within us will propel us to keep going forward.  Our ego has some grand designs for what this looks like–usually having to do with accumulation of things, proof that we are important, or approval from those around us for what we say and do. Our spirits sense of this importance is a bit more simply and has to do with today.  How can I be of use in the world today? How can I be my true self (LOVE, God made manifest) and show the world a version of God?  If I am taken care of, how can I be of service?  These are the profound and simple questions with which our spirit starts the day.  We get a kiss from God in the form of a new breath at the dawn of our day and are reconnected with this sense of self deep down with which to face the world and live out our mission.  Depending on how long you have been up, might determine how far you are away from that sense already.  The world around us bombards us from the get-go with other ideas but the moment we stop and take a breath we can be reminded of that first kiss and realign ourselves with the Spirit within.  My prayer for us today is that we be willing to look for a simple way to fulfill the longing in our hearts to be useful.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Sight!

It has been said that without vision, people perish.  It is our vision of what we want to create that propels us into the future and into something bigger than ourselves.  But what about what is right in front of our noses?  Vision implies a creation of a visual in our minds, our sight is what we use to see what is actually in front of us at that moment.  The real question is are we seeing what is actually there or are we seeing what we think we want to see?  Studies have shown that two people can be present at the same event and see two totally different things.  How is it possible then to know what we are actually seeing?  We do the best we can at any given moment. My prayer for us today is that we be open to seeing the gifts of life that are right in front of our faces and have the courage to take them as they are not how we would envision them to be.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen

Be in Sparkfulness!

When creation occurs there is an igniting that goes on.  The power of All That Is has commenced the power of life and creation.  I imagine that when a new child is born into the world, not only does it shift the energy of for the family in which the child is born, but also for all of us in the world.  One of my favorite quotes is, “Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of humanity.”  (S.C.Wilkes)  We are each born with that spark, that burst of energy that comes from our Creator.  It is the light that is within us.  That spark never goes away, it is never taken from us.  It can be dimmed over time and clouded over by experiences that cause us to believe it does not exist, but just because we don’t remember, does not mean it is not still there.  One of the most profound ways that we can give to each other is to encourage each other to let that spark, that light within us, shine.  When we notice that spark in another human being do we help fan the flame?  Do we recognize that by them shining their light, it brightens the world and allows us to find our light?  We experience it when we see other shine the light of their talents and gifts.  Think of the last time you were moved by a triumphant win of a sports game, were moved by a dance or music performance, when you heard a work of poetry, or the uninhibited laugh of a child.  These are all sparks of the divine and they touch us at our own spark.  My prayer for us today is that we be open to encouraging the spark of God within each other to shine by acknowledging it when we see it in others.  Make it a great one!  Peace~Colleen
