Be Of Quietness!

God is still.  With all the changes we are constantly experiencing I find great comfort in relying on the constancy of God.  It seems contradictory that a God who is constantly changing in presence could simultaneously be the stillness I find deep within my heart.  It is the core of who I am and does not alter no matter how much the winds of change blow.  It is as though the message of God is alway the same yet delivered by different messengers.  Since I tend to rely upon what my eyes can see versus what my heart sees, I get stuck in the form of the message.  I am essentially looking for the loudest and most obvious demonstration of God’s presence in my life.  I can miss the messages coming from the stillness of my heart.  The beauty of the quietness is remembered when I take a breath.  It causes me to slow down just a bit and notice the beat of my heart.
My prayer for us is the willingness to let go of the need to always rely upon the messenger of God and calmly breathe in the quietness of God’s presence in our hearts this moment.

Be Of Discovery!

God is boundless.  The river of love that flows through our hearts is an endless source of connection with the love infused in us from before we took physical form. Our hearts do not ask permission to keep beating.  Our lungs do not ask if its okay to expand and collapse.  Our system functions as designed. We can go through our lives not even noticing the miracles of our own lives until things aren’t working the way they are designed.  If we come from a place of discovery about the core elements of our existence, we witness the abundance of evidence of love in our lives.  If we unveil the joy that motivates our blood cells to move through our body or the rhythmic pattern of water cells assist the nerve passages, we just touch the surface of the infinite nature of love in our lives.  What other evidence is right in front of our eyes that we have grown numb to? Have you discovered the way that animals express love in non-human ways?  Have you uncovered the pattern of love that accompanies the exchange of water and air on our planet?  There are boundless opportunities to discover love in all its forms.
My prayer for us is the willingness to open our eyes and discover the presence of love in its various forms today.

Be Of Offering!

God gives. The creation of God is unceasing.  It is a continual evolution of love’s expansion.  It is difficult to bring to mind the reasons for God’s generosity and then I remember it is beyond what my mind can conceive.  It is not for me to break apart and understand, it is for me to emulate. If God offers all that love has to give over and over again out of joy then perhaps offering will bring me joy.  All those years of thinking I needed to guard my heart while well-intentioned caused me to close off my heart.  I had not yet figured out a way to be fed by the offering of love from the designer of love.  I was too busy thinking that I must find it from people and things around and outside of me.  My meditation dates with God are a daily reminder that in the stillness of my heart lies an offering that can not only fill me but move through me.  I don’t have to fiercely hold on to it to keep from losing it.  It is ever-flowing and easily tapped into when I let go and let God.  My offering is the thinking I am willing to set aside so I can experience the flow of God’s offering of love in this moment.
My prayer for us is the courage to let go of our need to understand and breathe into our hearts the offering of the Eternal strength of love that is ready to flow within and through us today.

Be Of Capacity!

God is fullness.  If we imagine for ourselves an experience where we understand the fullness of life we would only be touching upon the limitless capacity of love in our lives.  This is why our function is to grow in love as we go.  It is not about getting it done.  It is not about reaching a point where we no longer need to be learning. It is finding joy in the growth.  It is seeing our purpose in life as the building of our capacity to be love and share love.  If we find ourselves able to come to an experience that used to only generate fear and instead approach it from a perspective of love, we will see our capacity grow.  It is like building a muscle.  We don’t do it once and we are done.  We go back each day and contribute to the growing capacity of love for ourselves and others because we are becoming more ourselves.
My prayer for us is the willingness to grow our capacity of love and seeing who we truly are by testing it out today.

Be Of Progression!

God is movement. An endearing experience of being human is the constancy of change. I learned change is inevitable. I don’t’ always welcome it and sometimes I resist it but it comes nevertheless.  When I remember it is about being in the flow of life I am less resistant.  When I remember that God is the other constant I am open to it.  When I reflect that all change good or bad according to my perspective at the time has brought me to where I am today.  All of my life’s experiences including the ones I was not sure I would make it through, have weaved the progression of who I am today. I cannot know which one of those situations had they not occurred would have shifted my life in a different direction.  I think I might know, but the truth is I don’t.  When I am faced with a particular challenge I may have a sense of what direction it will progress in but until I am on the other side of it, I do not know how it will affect my progression as a child of God.  This seems thus far like the crux of surrender.  For me it is being willing to show up and be progressively shaped by my experiences; all the while holding on to the heart knowledge of who I am at my core, which God created, and cannot be undone.  When I can hold the space of hope in my progression as beloved of God, I am assured that whatever may happen can be used to progress me into being more fully my true self which is love.
My prayer for us is the courage to hold onto the hope of the power of God in loving us enough to guide our progression towards more of the love we are today.

Be Of Deliverance!

God is heart.  One of the most beautiful unfolding elements of my relationship with God has been the unsuspecting softening of my heart.  I had built up a pretty strong, or so I thought, defensive wall around my heart all under the guise of protection.  I had too many experiences of feeling abandoned and heart-broken and my solution was to stiffen and be on guard.  Yet at the same time I wanted to connect and feel. I had numbed to my desire to love and be loved because I stopped thinking it was truly possible.  The notion of loving others and others loving me sounded cliché and I often questioned it. Sometimes I still do.  I wonder, could they really mean it?  How is it possible that someone else would want me around just because I am me, not because I meet the expected criteria?  It is not as though I set out to intentionally keep people at a distance but I thought I was dependent upon only me to make sure I would not fall prey to the false ideas of love.  The word alone is confusing and has so many different meanings.  Through our daily meditation dates, God has used the cracks of brokenness I thought my heart was made up of to shine some light.  It is as though the consistency of showing up each day in small and unexpected ways, God has shown me there is still the hope and possibility of love without limits, love without expectations, and love with wounding.  I realize that God has delivered me from thinking I had to figure love out.  My deliverance from my own ideas of what love is supposed to be has been a gift of freedom to my heart.  I experience moments when I am so touched by love in whatever form that I can feel it physically in my heart.  Did you ever notice that when people are witnesses to love they touch their chest?  Maybe we are designed to spend our lives being delivered through our hearts and coming to know love a little more each day.

My prayer for us is the willingness to witness the deliverance of our ideas of love by letting go of what we think it is supposed to be and witness how it is happening to us more than we realize.

Be Of Heeding!

God calls.  Being invited into relationship with God begins the moment we want it to.  God is constantly calling us to connect with our deepest self.  These invitations take many forms and we may not recognize them as God, but if we pay close attention to the movement of our hearts we will begin to notice them.  Our hearts long to heed the call to love.  Our spirits anxiously await the acceptance of the invitation to play a role in the drama of our love story.  Heeding the call means choosing to live the life we are meant to live with authenticity.  Heeding the call means embracing the love we come from, the love we are, and the love we are meant to live in all our days. The beauty of the answer need not be dramatic or overblown.  It can be as simple as a yes to the next breath.  The answer can be in letting go of the idea we are not worthy to heed such a call to love.  When we answer the call to love, we are heeding the deepest call to life that exists within and around us at all times. God is ready to be on the other side of our heeding whenever we are ready.
My prayer for us is the courage to heed the call of our hearts to love and accept God’s invitation to be our true selves today.

Be Of Fundamentals!

God is essential.  As we embrace our relationship with God and grow in love we begin to understand the fundamental nature of love.  We live and breathe the essence of love with every moment.  We can not go very long in our lives being disconnected from love.  It is why when we lack a sense of connection to All That Is we begin to break down.  When we convince ourselves that we are not worth the time or wonder if we are loved or are lovable, our life seems to lose a sense of purpose.  Our fundamental life force is in our connection to love. It is what created every itty bitty part of us.  It is what drives the flow of our blood and moves our breath.  Thinking we are separate from this fundamental nature causes us to lose hope in life.  God sees us as fundamental and could never see us as anything less than the creation of love.
My prayer for us is the willingness to adopt God’s ideas of fundamentals in life if we find ourselves lost to the unfulfilled ones we have created.

Be Of Union!

God is connected.  We are an extension of God’s love and are eternally united with God.  Nothing we can do can escape it.  I am grateful to know that my longing to be in union with God comes from a place inside of me that is already connected.  I do not have to try hard or make it happen.  I need to get still and allow it to occur.  My daily meditation dates have given strength to the union because it is dedicated time for us.  It is a time when things slow down and I connect with my breath.  A time when I set aside everything else and give myself over to the remembrance of my being a part of something greater than me.  Sometimes it leaves me feeling whole.  Other times it gives me the patience I need with myself and others.  It even builds up the capacity of my heart because I am in union with the one who designed my heart.  The practicality of it is witnessed in the extension of my ability to pause and see the connection I have with others throughout my day because I am able to see them through the eyes of my heart.
My prayer for us is the courage to spend time in union with our loving Creator and remember the love of which we are always in union with whether we are aware of it or not.

Be of Shaping!

God forms.  Creating a relationship with God gives the opportunity to form our relationship with love.  God ebbs and flows and is present to us in so many forms that we can shape our relationship with God by being able to move with the flow.  Expecting God to always show up a certain way is limiting and God is not limited.  When I open myself up to not hindering the shape of God, I am able to be present to God in whatever form God shows up in the moment.  It makes faith an adventure! My relationship with God cultivated in our daily meditation date time allows me to grow and change when I remember that my understanding of God will grow and change too.  It gives me the freedom to not be stuck but continue to grow in love. I am free to embrace the changing face of love and love’s embrace with each new moment.
My prayer for us is the courage to embrace the shaping of love in our lives by not limiting who we understand God to be for us in the moments of today.
