Sharing my experiences and understandings of the Great I AM.

Be From Discovery!

The great mystery of God is how God is All Knowing and yet leaves room to be in relationship with us as we discover who God and who we are.  The path we travel affords us many opportunities to create a full life.  God desires to be with us every step of the way.  God’s desire to discover us is an example to us of how we can choose to operate.  We often think we know how something is going to happen or turn out.  When we choose to believe we know we don’t allow for discovery.  We block revelation and the movement of spirit in and through our lives. We believe we are being safe when we avoid revelation because what if it’s a bad discovery about ourselves in the world?  So what if it is?  God is there to remind us that no matter what we discover about ourselves and the world, it does not change who we are.  It affects us because we are alive but it does not change the fundamental truth of who we are.  As children we may have felt it did because we could not yet distinguish the true from the false.  When we engage in relationship with God we grow up and get to choose to see ourselves and our lives as God sees them.  Then we can know the power and mystery of daily discovery of ourselves and our lives.
My prayer for us is the willingness to engage in relationship with God and enjoy the power and mystery of discovery today.

Be From Holding!

At the most vulnerable moments of our lives we look to be held by love.  God’s always holding space for us to return to when we feel torn and tattered by life.  She is ready to embrace us when reach out. He wants for us to know deep in our hearts lies a reality of how he sees us. The reality God is holding does not change not matter what we think, feel or experience.  No matter where the winds take us on this wild ride of life, we are held by the consciousness of God within us.  It has taken me a good while to become willing to sit in the messiness of my own thinking long enough to travel the passageway to my heart.  Sometimes it seems as though the road is broken down and under construction.  Yet God takes my hand and reminds me my heart is in me and to just allow myself to be held by God’s unchanging belief in who I really am.  To get to the point where I can relax and allow myself to be held might just take our whole date that day but God is ready to meet me in the holding any time I want.

My prayer for us is the courage to trust in God holding us both up and within in the full realization of who we truly are despite how we may feel today.

Be From Hearing!

On my daily dates with God the time of silent meditation has been the hardest for me to grow into. Aside from the usual monkey mind that does not want to stop chattering there are moments of question as to what is happening when I am still and silent.  For whatever reason, since the idea of a friendship with God was introduced to me around age 12, I have spoken freely with God about everything.  But pausing to listen for God’s response is not as easy.  God does not always respond in words and sometimes God responds with a pause.  The process of hearing God comes when I am in the waiting space.  I have learned over the years it is not about doing it right but about making the attempt.  I am showing my willingness to hear God when I quiet my mind and still my body. I pause in expectation to hear the voice of God.  I learned to take this into my day by pausing when I am uncertain or wish for clarity, when I need a moment to bring myself together, or just to hear the beauty of silence.  Slowly I have come to hear the voice of God in the silence and trust that if there is a message it will come through that or another form.
My prayer for us is the willingness to hear the voice of God as well as speak to God today.

Be From This!

With every breath there is a this.  This is where I am. This is what I am feeling. This is what is happening.  This is the reality.  Each moment has what it has present to that moment.  We can move and choose from this but we cannot move and choose powerfully by pretending it is not there.  This is an arbitrary concept to explain the now.  It is a present moment terminology we use when describing what is currently happening.  The more in awareness we are of what this is, the more we can powerfully navigate our lives. There is little point other than idle interest in fantasy to try to go forward from what we wish things were or what they once were.  We can only navigate our lives from this moment as it is.  God encourages us to open our eyes to the reality of this moment and choose from our hearts how to move into the next moment and experience what it has to offer.
My prayer for us is the courage to be in this moment and recognize the power of living from this moment to propel us forward today.

Be From Significance!

We are not created out of a void. God is very intentional about what she creates.  He wants us to know from our true core that we were developed out of love.  How do we know this to be true?  When all else is slipped away, love is what remains.  It sounds like some cheesy love song, but if you were to get to the bottom of anyone’s reasoning for anything, it would be love.  Granted we human beings do things that seem the farthest from love and the complete opposite of it.  We are in search of what is within us  and think it is outside of us.  So we grasp at it any way we can.  We lack connection so we gossip.  We feel a lack of self-love and are insecure so we make fun of other’s insecurities.  We deeply long to feel significant so we make ourselves stand out and knock over anyone who appears to deny us what we crave from in our souls.  God is ready to walk us down a path to embrace those darker expressions that arise from a desire to be connected to the truth of who we are by going there.  She is not interested in having us run from what is propelling our significance.  He wants us to look it in the eye and discover that behind it lies a childlike striving with great imperfection to create what they somehow know to be true.  God takes us back to our hearts and helps us cultivate a relationship with our significance in love.
My prayer for us is the courage to look at how significant we are in our picture of love in our lives and ask God to help us cultivate it in the most productive way today.

Be From Senses!

Within the realm of human experiences is the opportunity to experience life on multiple levels.  Our physical senses alone give us the chance to taste, touch, hear, see, and smell our lives.  Then there is the intuitive sense or feelings we have about our lives.  We have a spiritual sense about what is happening and a mind sense that interprets the information from the physical senses.  There are probably ones we do not have names for.  All of these are vehicles through which to experience and make meaning out of our lives.  We use the information presented to make decisions about what we want to experience going forward.  We also sometimes make the information itself wrong.  The reality is the information coming from our senses has no meaning except for what we place on it.  A sense of smell is neither good nor bad but we have a reaction to it and determine it is one we want more or less of.  There are societal and family definitions of what is a good smell and what is a bad smell.  This varies depending on where, when, and within whom we grew up.  Our feeling sense is the same way.  A feeling of anger is neither good nor bad but we have attached a bad or wrongness to it and made it not okay. As a woman this is especially true.  Yet anger is a helpful signal to know when we feel threatened.  It creates a fire in us that may prompt us to make a decision.  The same for sadness or even happiness.  Our feelings are indications of what we are experiencing.  They are not us.  We are not angry, we feel angry.  We are not happy, we feel happy.  We run into difficulty with feelings when we identify ourselves as being them.  So why is it acceptable to say, I AM ANGRY but not acceptable to say  I AM FRESH when neither is the truth of who we are.  God encourages us to notice our senses and use them as information, not identification.  She is there to remind us that the truth of who we are is far beyond anything we could be boiled down to a smell, taste, or feeling.

My prayer for us is the willingness to look at the myriad of indications and information given to us by our senses and not rush to identify with them today.

Be From Bit!

We have all heard the expression: a little bit goes a long way. It is another way of expressing willingness.  I don’t have to know how it is going to turn up, I just need to be willing to show up for it.  Its like when you ask for something.  The person may say yes or no but if you never ask the answer is no.  The bit is the light within us.  It may appear insignificant but it becomes the catalyst to set our hearts on fire.  When we start with the first step we are on the path.  When we move one pace in the direction of love we affirm with our actions the desire to grow in love.  It is like taking in the first breath of the day.  If we do that we can begin our day.  If we are not able to take that first breath we know the day is over.  The bit of our lives is the spark of God living inside of us. It is there and we can enable infinite possibilities with it but it is up to us to access it.
My prayer for us is the willingness to take the bit of light we sense in our hearts and breathe life into it and let it catch on fire today.

Be From Shepherding!

There are many directions we can go in life and there are often times of wandering aimlessly trying to find our way.  We may jump on and off different paths until we connect with the one that leads us home to our heart. We are shepherding our way to reunite ourselves with the truth of who we are in God.  There are many paths but they all lead to the same destination. The destiny of our hearts.  God want to assist us in the shepherding if we let her.  He engages us in the process by proving an open path on which to explore and learn, it is called life. She is happy to accompany us in our shepherding if we want. We need not feel alone in the shepherding process of our path to grow fuller in love. God can be the resting place and rejuvenation space for our minds as our heart and our soul compel us to keep moving forward. The beauty of the shepherding process is there is no time line attached and while we are on a path there is no limit to the number of times we can veer off it.  God is quite happy to welcome us back when we are willing to resume course.
My prayer for us is the courage to engage in the shepherding path of our hearts which lead us to grow in love today.

Be From Encouragement!

To bring about courage means we must dig deep down within ourselves to find the light that propels us into being the love we are.  God fans this flame and encourages us to fan it with him through our breathing into our heart.  By drawing attention to our hearts and the energy we extend from it, we can fine tune our capacity to love beyond what our minds think is capable.  God is there to keep the encouragement alive by reminding us that we have the courage, despite what a voice of fear tells us.  Courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to go ahead anyway.  All those who have managed to love deeply and strongly will tell you there were moments when they thought their hearts would break in two.  God has and always will be the steady force to keep us alive through those heart pounding moments as we walk through the fear.  The spiritual path is one of a warrior of the heart.  We dine on the encouragement of God because we need it to survive.  To survive according to our truest selves is to love greater than ourselves.  We can start this journey by learning to focus on the encouragement and presence of love wherever our eyes catch it.  Reminding ourselves of the presence of love in all things big and small makes it that much more possible to believe it is alive in and through us too.

My prayer for us is the courage to latch on to the encouragement of God through witnessing the presence of love today.

Be From Gone!

God is present with us because when we are fully with God there is no past or future, there is only this moment.  It is said where time and the eternal meet is the present moment.  God gives us the gift of time as a way of seeing growth and expansion but it is not meant to enslave us.  Because our minds are constructed in such a way that allows us to recall the past and for it to exist vividly in our minds, we carry it with us into the present.  If we do not choose to cultivate being present in the moment we are in, alive to all that is occurring in and through us, we will simply let our minds dictate our reality which is an impression of the past.  God encourages us to accept the past is gone.  Things may look the same or have a similar feeling to yesterday but the truth is we have never been present in this very moment and it will be gone in the next moment.  We tend to constrict ourselves to the limits of what we know and therefore need to hold on to the past.  God invites us to let go and trust that what is gone will come back if it is needed.  Sometimes there are elements of the past we are called to recognize as playing a role in the present, but they are not the present.  I am continually learning how to dance with what is gone and what feels like present reality as I walk a path of healing and recovery.  I am thankful God is a great dance partner and has a strong lead so I can stay in the step we are in this moment.
My prayer for us is the courage to trust the past is gone for a reason and God will show us how to navigate the past moments present today.
